Painting your skis?

I'm getting a pair of used scratch's in the mail soon, the tan/orange ones, which I regard as pretty ugly. Anyone have much luck spray painting their skis? I am thinking of painting them black or grey/pink with a couple coats of clear on top of it to protect it.. but thats just thoughts. Has anyone actually painted their skis and what has been successful without chipping etc. ?

Use the search bar but since im already goin i painted mine last night....make sure the paint drys really well. you may want to sand them first so the paint sticks better...

dude sand them down put some prime on it the get the paint u want n paint it then put some pokemon cards on it and then a clear coat they will be the sickest thing on snow and this is my friend ryans idea who made a post about this anga

I should have used the search before I posted this, I didn't think of it. Thanks for the responses so far though

dude sand them first i spray painted up some old race skis and the paint comes right off.

i did it... all u gotta do is sand it with some fine sand paper and then put a coat of primer and it lasts a lot longer. mine are on the second yer n look like new

they held up pretty well, search in my threads to find my description of how i did it

yeha it works fine, jsut make sure you use primer first and sand them, a couple of clear coats really help the durability except mine still got messed up but then i got new skis so i dont care

make sure you do many light layers and give them plenty of drying time in between... don't get impatient! meditate before you spray or something... and definitely roughen up your skis with sandpaper before priming. if you use 220 grit or higher sandpaper on the primer, you'll get a nice even finish.
