Painting Skis

I know this has been covered before but the search function sucks and it seems everyone is always trying new things so new thread it is.

I have a pair of Season Kins on the way. Problem is I love having art on my skis so the black top sheets won’t work. I’ve reached out to a couple friends in the Boise art community to see if there’s someone who would help me refine an idea and bring it to life. What I need help with is how does one prep and finish the skis so that the artwork best stays on the skis? If I’m going to pay an artist to create something cool, I want them to still be worth hanging on the wall when I’m done skiing them.

The kins have a textured top-sheet, those are going to be nearly impossible to completely paint without having them chip. If anything maybe a paint marker, silver sharpie?

That textured plastic is going to cause you issues with paint for sure. I would suggest paint markers as well, white on that black would look sick

Would sealing it in with a lacquer help with that or no?

Ehhh if we’re getting that serious I’d probably just look into getting them done professionally.

If you Posca pen them they’ll last a few weeks on snow and then you can do a new design . That’s what I do

I plan on paying an artist if I find one, just trying to protect that investment that best way possible. Goal is to hang em up when I’m done skiing them and be something I carry around for life.
