Painting Skis

I was considering taking my Skogens and painting them a solid color, then possibly adding from there, mabye Yamaha Blue?

To do this, I was considering sanding off the clear coat and a lot of the surface. Priming it, then adding like 4 coats of acrylic paint. Then one or two clear coats above that.

Would this be practical? Anyone have experiance with the subject? I'd love to hear it.

that would probally work andy, make sure you have good clear coat they will survive frezzin tempertures

talk to gallant - he painted his 1260's neon green... i think he just used spray paint though.

true... and yeti wrote an article on keeping your topsheet intact. something about clear sheeting that you iron on. I was thinking that would be the best. I've still got to do mine.

take them to an autobody shop i bet they could do it for pretty cheap and do an amazing job on them

My friend took an old pair of skis, turned them into twins, and then painted them. I would not reccomend using a belt sander, although it would work much faster, you get ugly divets all along the ski. Sand it by hand, paint it whatever color you like then put a clear coat on top. go to a local paint store and ask what kind of paint will work best to stick to that kind of surface. If you get the wrong kind of paint, it could peel and flake off then your ski would look like shit.
