Painting Skis?

OK I've searched and all but am still seeking alittle more info.

Thos of you who have painted oyur skis... how did you do it, and did it hold up?

I know to sand and prime and paint and finish and all, but does it really stay on and stay fresh?

Thanks for the info. And when I paint mine I'll post pics.

let that sink in for a minute

Like 4 years back i spraypainted an old pair of jib skis and all i did was sand the top sheet and it came off really pretty easily, but i bet if you pt some coats of glaze or wuteva it will work, i just wouldnt recomend it unless you can accept the fact that it is chipping

Dude... there are 2 threads where I outlined this. I'll find the one that was better...

special secrets.

wax first... to ensure no paint gets into the base. it will eat the base.

sand w/ 220, use a "tack cloth" to remove dust, spray prime, 24 hours, sand w/220, tack cloth, finish coat, 24 hours, 220, tack cloth, final finish.

don't use flat paint. i will peel with the flex of the ski. use the glossy stuff. Don't clear coat. it will peel too.

for graphics cut out what you want and place on the primer spray over. Primer color will be grafic color.

don't worry about the edges

and a double coat of primer will keep the paint on the tails a little longer.
