Painting skis....

yo im painting my skeeze over the next few days and im going to follow this process:

1. sand off top layer of top sheet. apply primer (two coats) and dry.

2. apply base layer clothing (2 layers) and dry.

3. add tape and cut out and paint any designs with other colors (2 layers). Dry.

4. peel tape and add clear coat (2 layers). dry

5. enjoy!

anyone have any different directions than these (that will still produce semi-lasting effects) let me know

I decided to go a different route and I put a nylon sticker on the tops of my skis, but that did not really last either.

There is no real good solution to a crap design on your current skis, just buy new ones that you like.

 
1) don't do it

2) get a life so you don't have to waste your time doing this meaningless process

3) learn that the ski and what it does for you is more important than the graphic

 
hey fuckwads, i dont give a shit whats on the ski. im getting new skis this year anyway so i wanted to do something fun with my old ones. and right now im recovering from shoulder surgery so i dont have much else to do. so im out painting my skis, not sitting at a computer being a lifeless dick who bitches in the forum.

my friend used the same prosscess accept he just used on coat and that lasted for about a day

^ thats why he is painting his skis. They are his skis and why not paint them. Most ski graphics arent amazing anyway.

do'nt sand the whole top lair off only use a very light sand paper so get rid of sratches and then do your thang

 
yea man sounds good...just take your time and do a really nice job on them then post some pics to show all the non-beleivers whats up...the only thing i would change, is after about every month or 20 days of skiing, i would apply another 2 coats of clear to allow proper sealing to take place.

My one coat of spraypaint lasted a decent while until it chipped and looked like crap[.

Don't spend too much time on it, as you'll have to touch it up again later anyways.

You don't have to take off the entire topsheet. You just need to make a somewhat rough surface for the paint to hold onto. That way when the skis or something else hits the paint, it doesn't chip off in huge flakes, only in the small little nick where it got hit, if at all.

I only sanded my skis in the middle, up until like a foot and a half from the tips, so the tips cracked and flaked super fast, but the rest was pretty good looking.

hey bitches, guess what...i finished them and they look fuckin awesome...i spent almost a full week painting and tuning them and now its like i have a brand new pair of skis for next season....i clear coated the shit out of it and ive taken them out four full days now and not a scratch. i didnt do it cuz it would make me a better skier, i didnt do it because of how cool i am, i did it because i i was bored and needed a hobby. now, i wouldve posted pics and shown you guys how fucking badass and phat tits they are, but i dont think im going to now. but if anyone is curious about the recipie to make it work, ive got it.

i paint my old skis. i find that usually simple patterns/designs look best. that and matte black spray paint can be your friend. ill probably paint mine again today.

ive just got a shitload of stickers on my skis. its a good theft deterrant.

most people on here are dicks...paint them if you have nothing to do go for it..i think i saw somebody else's work on here with the same like directions and it was SIIICk
