I/m having a handrail made for me and was wondering what kind of paint i should use to paint it.I was told that mountains use the thickest house paint you can buy but i/m not sure. It is better to paint it right?

Yo, for your rail, use non rust paint. I was in Whistler for part of the summer, and they used silver non-rust paint. IM not to sure of the name. It keeps the rail looking good, and doesnt allow it to get sticky. Peace.

yeah and don't get black or some other dark color-it'll absorb the heat and make the rail stickier.

I don't think u would want to wax a rail if ur ski bottoms have wax on them. Wax on Wax does't slide good. just an idea

dont wax it if there is still paint on top...it will just come off with the paint hella fast

'thinking about what we would do with bread before it was sliced' lisa

Be careful when painting the top. If the paint is too thick or soft, you'll catch your edges on the paint itself... I'd say it's better to not paint the very top at all. You're just going to grind it off anyway. If you're worried about rust, don't. If you're using the rail enough, your skis will keep grinding the rust off before it becomes a problem. However, paint on the sides would be good cause your skis don't really touch there.

yea out in Whistler they used the non rust paint, and they slid their skis on first becasue it makes it super super slick. And after that it didnt last all that long but no sticky parts at all.

MAke sure your use a metal brush, to roughten up the rail before you paint it,

the tiny scratchs will make the paint stick better

So ya us a good quailty out door paint, and it will be all good
