Painting poles?

Has anyone ever painted their poles? I can get a good deal on some nice Leki ones, but the graphics are horrible (check it here). If I just spraypainted them would it be ok, or would it flake off in the cold? Or strip the paint off, and spraypaint? How about primer or topcoat?

 
uumm they are just poles...it's not really worth all the effort :-)

I want to paint them because they don't match any of my other gear - haha, very 'gay', I know - they'll just look bad. I'll paint them black, fading to white or yellow.

 
well, here's my advice... scrape the old shit off or use paint remover if it will work, sometime the cover they put on bloack the remover. Just scrape it off with something metal, then re-paint it whatever color and make sure to put a cover over it.

If you get GOODE poles, they are inexpensive and quality. and they are already sick neon 80's colors, so.............. super dope.

i spray painted my lower 1/4 of my poles crome. i just spray them on, and one season later, it's still there. no need to prime/sand them.

Yeah - cool. I think I'll just srap them to start with. If It comes off, I can either re-spray or try strip/prime/spray.

And different coloured poles - no. If I did that, I'd always want say, the red one on my left and blue one on my right. Horrible habit I've got.

 
poles are poles. that is not worth the effort to paint a brand new pair of poles. if you want to paint a pair of pulls go get a pair for like 5 bucks or even free ones from a shop/hill/goodwill and duct tape those or spraypaint them. dont waste you time on painting brand new poles

if u care about the look of ur poles use sand paper and clean em down, so all the paint is gone and then spray paint them. make sure its warm out when u spray paint and that u let them dry and then add a second coat.

i saw a guy at my mountain and his friend took his pole and was bending it and was like wow.. aren't these those unbreakable poles!! and his firend is like whoa.. i didn't know they were unbreakable and bends them and they snaped

i have used those poles before, i really hated them, they just felt wierd, the way that they are bent just makes them kinda wierd to ski with

i use bamboo its better more flexy and doesnt snap much and its cheap

im never buying poles again.

Above the baskets on my none flexi poles I have a layer or two of electric tape that goes 4 inches up the shaft.

Same with mine, but i put ducttape over them.. only guy at blue with duct tape poles... NO BODY COPY ME!

i just painted mine today gold fading to black to go with my PE's i just sanded them and wiped them down and did a few coats of paint

 
yo..spraypaint will come off waay to easy..dont waste yoru time with that..get some cooper based paint from a auto parts store..i used the same kinda of paint to paint my brake calipers..it works good.

 
poles are poles. you dont notice the graphics much when you ski anyways. people are going to judge you on your skiing abilities, not your poles.

i painted my poles with some plain old spray paint. it didnt chipped off, and i think its better than the origional paint. it used to be my black poled would have big silver scrathes from hitting my skis or my boots with them, and now that doesnt happen with this paint. do it.

heh, i painted my skis and poles just becasue i was bored, it was kinda fun thinking up the idea and painting them, and it seperates you from everyone else

BTW, what i did was sand then a bit, paint them one color, put some tape over random parts, paint it again, cover some parts, then paint them again, you can do this however many times youde like with a bunch of different colors, but make sure you dont take the tape off inbetwen colors
