Painted Skis

i had to claim this. i thought they came out very well. they are 175 tnks, the blue jean ones. i still need to clear coat them.

thall mixed with dumonts? nice, but did you paint the bindings too? or did you cover all the binding? looks like you painted the bottom part of the bindings. nice job though

i didn't paint any part of the binding. they are blue deadbolts.

oh it kinda looked like you just covered the tops and painted the base but its probly cuz the bag is painted there. those look sick. what kind of paint did you use?

dude did you post a thread a while back saying you had red and white paint and you wanted to pain you skis and asking people what you should do??cuz if so me and another guy encouraged the rising sun idea..those look fuking siick!

did you sand the skis before you painted and clear coat after?

You probably rushed it or did something really wrong, I painted my bmx 2 months ago and it takes a thrashing and hasnt even scratched. You need to rought up the clearcoat with like 500 grit sandpaper, 1-3 coats of primer, 1-3 coats of your color(s) and then 2 really light layers of clearcoat for it to work well.

Those look good! quality job. Im thinking about doing that to a pair of old atomic triplets I got. Would it be alright if I took the bindings off to paint the skis then put the bindings back on afterwards or should I just leave the bindings on and tape them off?

just tape them off. i used a plastic sandwich bag over the binding. then just use blue painters tape to seal it at the base of the binding.

nice job man. thats sick lookin. DONT 4GET TO CLEARCOAT! ive known people who have painted boots, skis, pole ect. and skied them b4 for the clear coat was applied. DONT MAKE THIS MISTAKE. they will chip like shit and look like the inside of an asshole within a day of skiing.
