Padre Island, Texas

So I am thinking about driving the 19 hours to Padre Island, Texas around July. Just wondering if anyone else has gone down there. How was it? What kind of stuff did you do? Stories about similar places would be sweet too.

isnt padre by corpus christie? if so ive been there its really nice. skimboarding is goood. beaches are nice. lots of good sea foood joints.

i actually just moved from CO to Texas, Austin specifically, so I haven't been down to the gulf yet. But from what I hear South Padre has the pretty much the only really nice beaches on the Texas coast but I think that Mexican beaches are better. And I don't think its really a happening place except during spring break. but depending on where you are driving from it could be worth the drive. I think there's good fishing and other good recreational sports down there. Just be aware that its gonna be fucking hot down here in July so you better hope you get those coastal breezes to cool it down cause it gets more humid there than it does here.
 
Ya I have been to the good one up by Fort Worth. I am thinking we will stop there on our trip down since my girlfriend has never been. I hear the one in Padre is shitty.
