Packs with External Shovel!!!!

So I'm looking for a new pack, and I really want to be able to store the shovel head on the outside of the pack. I know that this means it could get ripped of in an avalanche and all that, but I just want it to save space on the inside. Looking for something thats around 20-20L.I thought the Dakine Heli Pro DLX had this feature, but after looking more closely it doesn't seem that way.

Any ideas?

I'm just saying you don't need to make a thread about every specific gear question you have. Do some research.

And dakine packs have what you want.

I did do some research, lots. I just couldn't find anything so I decided to ask ns. And thanks about the dakine, but I've already looked into that and the shovel is still on the inside, just in a separate pocket.

And yeah I have posted a lot of threads recently, but I just started like two weeks ago and I got a little to in to it i guess

Dakine do the Heli pack, its their smallest pack at an 11L volume, and that has an external shovel pocket. Bear in mind though 11Ls is really small for a pack, now I ski with a pack ~30L everyday.

just put it on the inside of your pack and get a slightly bigger bag. There is no need to have it on the outside and that will affect the rest of the performance of the bag. That is why they don't put it out there in the first place.

I rock my Arcteryx Silo 30 and love it

This. There are a few bags with a good external shovel blade holder but you're really limiting your options by looking for one of those.

look at your icon.

k2 makes some wicked mini touring packs. I've got their smaller one, and it fits everything I need for day touring if you don't mind buckling your helmet to the outside. I also like how the "external" shovel works as back protection

response to friend under snow: "oops sorry man I was too worried about saving space in my backpack taht i forgat my shovel handle. sorry braaah. ill call my mom"

rule of thumb, keep everything ready to go, make the zipper pull on your backpack bigger (use a zip tie) you are not gonna want to fuck around with puny zippers when a rescue scenario pops up on you man. space is not worth you or your friends life,

plus weed fits in most pockets, not like you need to carry around a mason jar, just pre roll.

this one def has outside shovel holding capability if you have a D shaped shovel handle, otherwise you will lose your shovel handle

I know it looks cooler to have it outside, but seriously, just put it in the pack. A nice 25-30 L daypack will fit a shovel and probe easily and you'll be stoked that your blade and handle haven't got half the forest stuck in them when you finish your run. Check out Ortovox, the Freerider line kills it and the quality destroys Dakine.
