PA resident. Obtaining a FL license...

So I'm a Pennsylvania resident. Licensed driver. All that good stuff. But I know attend college in Florida, and I want a cheap Disney pass. The only way I can do that is if I am in possession of a Florida state issued ID. (There are other ways, but I definitely can't obtain them.)

My question is, what do I need to do to go get a Florida license? I researched, and it really only looks like I need to go in, pay $48.00, supply a SS, PA license, and a passport, and I'm good.

Is it really that easy? Reply if you have experience in changing state IDs.
 
You're going to need about 5 hours of your time dealing with non-english speaking workers at the DMV.
 
yeah all you need to do is pay for the new license, that seems pretty expensive though it's usually around $30
 
I think they will also void your PA licence. Don't quote me on that but I thought the law was you can only have one valid drivers licence at a time, though I could be wrong.
 
I'd be fine with that. When I move back to PA again, I'll just pay the fee and get my license there.
 
seems like a pain in the ass to get a new license everytime you go off to school then come back.

in your college years, you're talking 8 trips to the dmv, which is then $400 in fees for new licenses, and countless hours.

Find a way around getting a new license. There has to be another way. I don't think getting a florida license is the way to go
 
or he just keeps a FL license til he graduates and moves out of FL. like any normal person would do... you think every summer/xmas break he goes home he's gunna reapply for a new license? dumb fuck. u can still drive in PA with a FL license...

Is there are disadvantage to only having a Florida license? Why would he need to switch back to a PA one?
 
you will have to bring something to prove your residency in FL, ie paycheck, rent agreement, etc. at least that was the case getting a CT, SC, and TN license
 
i think the only thing you are forgetting is you will need a proof of residency. so bring like your lease agreement or something. also if you own a car you might have to switch the registration over? but im not sure. you would at least have to file for a change of address if its in your name.

or you could join the military. my military id gets me in to disney world either free (depending on the date) or for just about nothing.
 
gotta live in the state that you are applying for a license in. if you own a car registered to your name, pretty sure you will need to register it to florida and get florida plates.

if you happen to be living in an apartment for school, you could bring the lease or something that proves you live there. if youre living on campus though, forget it.

see if your college id will get a discount at disney? a lot of places give discounts to college students
 
2010 they stopped counting school IDs as proof of residency.

Now, my brother told me that when he bought a motorcycle down here when he was a freshman at the same college, he got the college to print him a proof of residency, saying that he paid room and board and lived there and then used that to register the motorcycle down here. Shouldn't be different from getting a FL license...right?
 
i'm almost positive you don't need to have residency. I had a Colorado ID and I didn't have residency. Honestly, it's a simple call away, just call the DMV and ask..
 
just bring in a bank statement/anything that gets mailed to you at college for proof that you are living there
 
That's what I'm thinking, because the FL DMV site says I only need to bring primary and secondary form of ID and my SS number.
 
From living in Florida for 20 years i have learned that it is not worth it. the time, stress, money not worth it. and Islands of adventure is more fun anyways and cheaper.
 
Dont pay at all. Just meet a friend who works at disney and they can get you in for free... What school do you go to?
 
Barry U in Miami...which is the problem. That's four hours from Disney, so I don't think I'll be meeting any employees down here.
 
i live in ft myers moved here from ny, i brought in my birthcertificate ss card and old ny license and it took me like an hour to get a fl one
 
True. But I still dont think disney is worth it. How many time are you going to make the 4 hour drive a year to get there?
 
oa nd you need to actually live here haha like have your fl address on a bank statement and bills with your name and watnot one it
