Pa. Fly Fishing

Hey ns. anyone in south western pennsylvania know of any good places to fly fish other than the big rivers like the yough.

Sure, I'll help you. There's a secret spot in Clairton that is an absolute mecca for brown trout. Lots and lots of big browns!

It's a little hard to describe where exactly it is but I'll do my best. When you're in Clairton, get on 837 (also goes by State St). Drive North for approximately 1 mile. The spot will be on your left, a little before you get to Mendelsohn Ave. If you get to the Clairton-Glassport Bridge (on your right) you've gone too far.

The parking for the brown trout honey hole is on the side of the road. You'll need to bushwhack/hike in just a little bit. You'll practically smell the browns there are so many of them. Good luck and post up pics!

I know exactly where that is. I go past every morning on my way to work in Monroeville. I see people occasionally walking to this spot on my way home. Is it still technically the Mon river where you're talking about? I feel like you could catch some wild creatures in there!

Yes, truly great spot and a closely-kept secret. It's on the other side of the road from the river side, in a smaller pond-like area. The browns there are incredible!

Sick! I'm just starting to fly fish this year. I'll definitely check this spot out.
