P90X.

i started doing it about 6 weeks ago. hardcore stuff. but i have seen mad results. i am faster, stronger, can jump higher, and have way better endurance (i play basketball)

and ab ripper x can be a total killer at first

Ok, I hear this shit all the time.
Is it a protein drink or a "work out routine" and where do you find/get said thing.

I downloaded it.

If you followed it to a t it would make you ripped (meal plan and shit) but it gets really, really boring doing the same workout over and over. And the guy is a tool.

it is a workout.

i do not follow the diet plan at all.

and tony is the man even if he is the biggest douchebag i have ever witnessed in my life. he is absolutely jacked and like 48 so i somewhat respect him.

hahahah try to work out watching that for more than 15 minutes without laughing your ass off at the guy. its impossible.

I bet you've never tried it.. You're ass would be kicked by that program.
And their are many other reasons: saving gym membership money, actually a legitimate workout program, it kicks your ass continually, it's easier to just commit to.

but better than signing up for a gym and never go there.

gyms actually calculate that in. if all the members came at once, the place would explode.

a friend of mine did that to get in shape for the air force.

i called him out on it daily, made fun of him, talked shit about it, the whole nine yards.

but it definitely worked for him. he did both the work outs and followed the meal plan to a T and has now lost almost 25 lbs and his benchpress max went up 70 lbs.

if you're trying to get in shape, you're looking in the wrong places.. and look a couple comments up. it kicks people's ass', including mine.

is there anywhere online where i can download or get each workout routine? if possible..

mad +k its so secretive...

I had to do crossfit before and after 2 hour swim workouts...HOLY SHIT. That is so god damn hard, but it whips you into shape.

ab ripper x destroyed me i made it about a minute and a half in the first time and was dying, great work out if you stick with it though.

except the people that are committed and do go to the gym don't need your bro program.

and i'm in reasonable shape and it wouldn't kick my ass. any program where the prereq for it says that you should be able to do at least 3 pull-ups, but doesn't expect you to do even that is a joke in my eyes.

ill do the research for my own weight training. i'm not lazy. unlike some of the p90x people who just want it laid out in front of them. laziness, which is part of the reason why you're out of shape in the first place.

seriously though, ab ripper x is the only one i've tried and its pretty awesome. I thought I was in reasonable shape, but I could barely do all it

The prerequisite lies. If you could do all of that, you still wouldn't be prepared for it. i went to state for cross country as a freshman, i played select soccer year round, and did the usual wake boarding, skating, freeskiing. you aren't prepared for that program until you've tried it.
and why would lazy people be trying that workout? pretty sure they would give up after the first 20 minutes, MAX. it seems like you can't wrap your head around the fact that you can work out, almost non-stop for an hour and get as good results as some gym monkey.

your definition of reasonable shape, and my definition of reasonable shape don't mesh. Your definition is like "hey, let's ride my bike to school today" mine is having 8% body fat at over 200 lbs.

my definition of good shape is being able to run a 5k in 20 mins or less and bench your body weight at least 10 times

no theres a method to my madness.

most xc runners worth their salt can easily run 5k in under 20, but can't bench their body weight 10x. most football players worth their salt can easily bench their body weight 10x, but cant run a 5k in under 20. (no hate on either athletes)

so this rules out the twiggy guys and also the huge guys, thus "good shape"

Everyone who doubts it works, you are WRONG. This thing will kick you ass back to the bucket of chicken fatty. The first workout is pushups, and chin ups, and diamond pushups, and back hand chin ups, regular push ups, under the fence push ups, weight lifting. And that two times. So shut up, it's legit. Your arms will feel like jelly for an hours after your done if you've done it right. And that's just chest and back work outs. There a bunch of stuff that get super hard. This stuff is for the insane, and I'm tryin it. I'm probably gonna die

this whole entire thread with people saying p90x 'will kick your ass', i'm imagining you saying it in this announcers accent. and it makes me want to stab you in the face.

I can do 7 and a 1/2 laps in the 12 minute run, I dono what that translates to for a 5k, but that's the longest I've ever run for..and it's only because I had to do it for personal fitness.

i could use the upper body strenght. is it possible to do it effectively with only a resistence band? no weights or chin up bar?

haha I'm not debating whether you're in good shape, you must be in order to have 8% body fat at over 200 lbs. My criteria is just general to rule out big chubby guys who can bench a lot and twiggy guys who can run a lot. I'm saying i'm definitely not in bad shape either, and ab ripper x was fucking tough. im downloading it as we speak to try it again though

you can use doorjams for pullups and 10 lb dumbells aren't that expensive. I think those are the only weights you need but i may be wrong

That prerequisite thing is really funny. I have the original copy of the fitness guide. The original version is actually like, ok guys, you have to be in really good shape to get through this and do everything properly, this is intended for people that have already gone through our Power 90 program, consider trying one of our other programs first before P90X because it is really intense and you need some base strength.
Then it started selling really well and they rewrote the manual to make it seem more accessible to everyone, to make mo money basically.
I started doing the Power 90 one this week, I'm on day 5. I wanted to do P90X but I don't have a chinup bar or resistance bands, so I downloaded it anyway and I figured I'd just skip the chinup parts, but then I realized that in a couple of the routines you are pretty much just doing chinups for an hour and a half straight. The Power 90 program requires only a set of dumbbells, which I already have, so I'm just gona try it for a while till I can afford a chin up bar and the other stuff you need for P90X.
Its more of a cardio thing really though, the way the excersizes are set up forces you to lift about half of what you would normally lift. It won't get you "ripped". I just got tired of my normal lifting/jogging routine so I thought it might be fun for a little while.

its definitely not for people just getting started- its a good way to get that last little bit after being in the gym for a while- i used the ab ripper x and my parents did the whole workout- i would go to the gym- then come home and do ab ripper- 6 pack baby!

i would say i was pretty damn fit in the first place. i have to admit that i dont follow the nutrition guidelines very closely. i dont eat extremely unhealthy and i just try to kick in some additional proteines and fruits.

i am in week 8 or so right now. had to make to short breaks last month and now (3-4 days for a trip).

but its nice. so far i added at least 4-5 inches when reaching for the floor with straight legs, and i am now so damn flexible overall. strength also improved a lot, my vertical went up 5 inches so far, push ups (almost doubled), pull ups (three times), also improved.

i dont think that 1 hour per day is a lot of training, but the results are pretty legit. of course you dont learn how to fly or how to kill a polar bear with bare hands, but regarding the investment/benefit ratio, its more than ok.

also, i have another month left, so i will check back.

and for anyone who wants to start, i would say there is a possibility of getting a great deal online on a site called like thebuccaneerslagoon.com
