P tex in a glue gun

Can you just get any old glue gun and will ptex fit or what? I have heard there good for ptex. Is that what the shops do? I've given up trying to burn it black

if you are talking about clear ptex, then its more tricky than black. you have to have a metal scraper next to the lighted stick, so that so scrape off the carbonized ptex (which is black). and i dunno bout a glue gun, i dont think its the rite temp

I work at a shop and I do this stuff. What I do when I'm ptexing is to take a butane blowtorch, and keep that going if I'm doing a line of skis. Then I lock the ptex in a pair of pliers and melt it over the blowtorch. From there I drop the necessary amount of liquid ptex in the gouges, and then take a scraper, and even it out, than wipe it down and maybe give it a handbuff. Done.

Take a stick of white p-tex and hold a lighter to the end. It looks shitty if u put it on ur skis cuz its all burned, but if u let it fall to the floor it makes a mario brothers like noise, its awsome.

There's no need to baseweld when you don't have a core shot.

P-tex won't get hot enough in a glue gun to melt. The p-tex guns that shops use are around 2 or 300 hundred dollars I think.

yeah p-tex guns are mad expensive. your best off just using a lighter, and dripping it on the skis, then evening it out like that one guy said. unless your racing or something you really dont need to do more than that. in the shop we used a torch to get the p-tex going and then wiped it with a metal scraper to get the black stuff off, but when im at home or at a resort tuning my stuff i dont worry about it, i just burn and drip.

 
All you have to do for clear p-tex is light a match and burn the end until it starts to drip. Then take your metal scraper and let it drip on there until it starts to drip clear. Once it drips clear, drip onto your base, wait for it to cool, and scrape off. Easy.

it dries like instantly but if you scrape it off before it dries, it wont leave a mark on your base. i did my skis tonite actually. no glue guns. it wont get hot enough, even though my friend said that. and i work in a shop and i asked my boss if my friend was right, that we could use glue guns. he said "no, thats why we use matches"
