P olenick Angel Tube Escalator

i gess the potential for death is pretty limited barring catastrophic binding failure, but thats still ballsey as fuck

That was on the news here in the U.K today, it said the police want to speak with him about it, hahaha

"The film's producer said other people were not in danger as friends of the stuntman, a Norwegian national, had warned passengers away. "

I'm confused. I own Mind the Gap, but was it Jon Hatviet or Andreas Hatviet... Its definitely NOT Peter, but which of the Hatviet brothers is this?

"A BTP spokesman said the video was thought to have been recorded about a year ago.

He said under by-laws they could not prosecute after six months had lapsed."

Yay, fuck the police! wouldn't you think there would be police around to see this though since the london bombings?

Found this on www.natives.co.uk

Back in January, a minute segment from ‘Mind The Gap’, a freestyle ski movie, showing Peter Olenick skiing down the escalators at Angel underground station in London, was posted to YouTube.

Police too slow to prosecute

Three months later it has hit the headlines, although now actually too late for British Transport Police to prosecute. This case has serious consequences for aspiring freestyle movie makers in the UK.

The BBC and numerous other news agencies have been reporting that Transport for London (TfL) have urged police to take the "strongest possible action" against any similar offenders. A Tfl spokesman said: "This is a dangerous, stupid and irresponsible act that could have resulted in serious injury or death to not only the individual concerned, but other passengers."

Unidentified man?

Despite the fact that the Olenick’s name is shown quite clearly at the end of the clip, as well as a plug for ‘Mind The Gap’, the BBC report that the man was ‘unidentified’ and British Transport Police (BTP) have urged the man to contact them (which seems unlikely).

The more serious aspect to this case is that this is, quite frankly, a terrifying stunt that could easily have led to a serious injury. One hopes that in the search for even more unusual footage, freeskiers and boarders keep the safety of the public in mind, as well as themselves!

i can't believe how big of a deal this is. here in England it was on every news headline all day yesterday! NUTS

mind the gap has been out all season and no one noticed! sweet... oh and it's andreas for sure.

check this report out:

A 70-second video showing a daredevil "free skiing" down the capital?s highest escalator at Angel tube station has proved a massive hit on YouTube, the Internet?s most popular video sharing website.

In the clip -- which has been watched nearly 300,000 times -- a station attendant can be heard shouting just before a young Norwegian called Arild hurtles down the 90-metre escalator at breakneck speed with a camera attached to his head. He safely completes the descent to the applause of other passengers.

The stunt is an example of a "free skiing" -- a cross between skiing, snowboarding and skateboarding -- a craze that is popular in Norway.

However, the extreme skiier's antics did not impress London Underground, who told the Guardian newspaper that the act was "dangerous, stupid and irresponsible".

A cross between skiing snowboarding and skateboarding, wow!!!!!!!!

Haha, in that news article:

"They urged the man to contact them so they could discuss the potential dangers of his stunt."

That'll be the day
