Oystein did actually not get 2nd in Big Air

I don't get why this isn't a bigger thing... Oystein got 35 points in his first run tonight. And 35 points in his next... 35 points for a dub 14 to the left and 35 for a dub 14 to the right.

When there was 14:22 remaining there was a break in the competition... Oystein had a total of 70 points when the break began... After the break there was still 14:22 remaining of the competition, but suddenly his score was 80 points instead. His first score got transformed from 35 to 45 points...

At his last hit he got 39 points which in total would land him in a solid 74 points. NOT 84 points!!!

Don't believe me? Look at the full replay here and go to 12:00:

Then go to 15:00 and you will se what I mean... They called the wrong second place. Woodsy should have gotten 2nd and Bösch 3rd...

I don't make threads here very often but this annoyed me...

Maybe there was a mistake made when the scores were put into the system, especially with the whole left and right deal that made the scoring super hard to follow. Oystein's trick was mad good, but I find it hard to believe that judges would give the 2nd hit of the whole contest 9s out of 10 no matter how crazy the trick was.

Seemed to me more like the judges fixing poor scoring. Oystein dropped that on the second hit of the event, and the judges had no idea what runs to expect in the following minutes under the new format, so they scored it low. I'd imagine they got through 3 or so drop cycles and realized that a switch dub 14 blunt to blunt (insane) is a way better hit than a tre 14 safety, then went back and revised the score. Probably just went unmentioned because it's rushed live TV (kinda like the announcers mistakenly announcing Woodsy as the winner).

This is why the new format is trash. It kills the creativity and makes the judging super hard. I thought Woodsy won, just like the announcers initially said, but then they reminded everyone about the left/right deal.

I think Woodsy should have at least placed second, if not first, but glad Henrik won so he could call out the format. Also those zero spins Henrik floated were basically a couple of middle fingers to the new format haha.

I wish big air was longer than 25-30 minutes. It is such a fun one to watch.

I always feel like once big air finally warms up and people are throwing down, it ends within 10 minutes. I know for a fact there was a lot more to offer, especially from guys like Kai.
