Oxygen Bars?

aright i searched an didn't find anything so i'm wondering...whats the deal with oxygen bars. anyone ever been to one or seen them. i've never seen one in person but they look pretty funny. strap on that thing that goes into your nose like at a hospital and inhale some flavored air.

its really sad to see someone with that, i was at six flags and i saw a really overweight kid carrying around a tank of oxygen and had an oxygen bar on

there one in Boulder...

they are kind of fun, i guess. Not worth the money, though.

spend it on better drugs

It's not 100% oxygen. you have to have a prescription to get 100%. so the shit at bars is just flavored air and a waste of money

I tried one, it's just like evaporated scents. Not really pure oxygen. It's EXTREMELY relaxing though and makes you feel really good. Not euphoric or anything but yeah.

MOA has one that i always walk by. And they have a store called MinneNAPolis. Its 50 cents a minute to take a nap, fucking rediculous.

i went to the one in breckenridge, didn't really get much out of it. it's supposed to relax you or change your mood or something.

when I got my last head injury they strapped some ocygen to my face. Shit made me light headed and relaxed or maybe that was me slipping in and out of consciousness... i dunno

i did one at virginia beach once. all it is a stronger concentration of oxygen with an added scent. however, it truly does work. it allows you to slow your breathing and heartrate greatly. i have asthma, and from experience, don't try it if you do have asthma. it felt awesome while i was doing it, but once they removed the plug from my nose and I had to breath the nasty virginia beach air, I nearly fainted. scary shit,.

bump out of curiosity, my buddy was telling about a new one in our town and i'd never heard of them
what's your guys experience with them?

Oxygen bars for dumb tourists who cant adjust to the altitude or get altitude sickness and think they need it to get rid of their headaches. They are overpriced gimmicks for people who barely ski

we USED to have a store that sold water in my town

it was all different types of water, flavored, mineral, exotic from far away lands

shit was really expensive, like some rare waters were hundreds of dollars

but this is all that i've heard, i never actually stepped foot in there because that place went under in a matter of weeks

they had one at SIA last year for free, it was alright, i really didnt feel too different i think its overrated. actually it sobered me up quite a bit

well if im not mistaken dont hyperbaric chaimbers have you breathe in a higher concentration of oxygen too? and those are suppose to speed up the healing process if your hurt? Just a thought correct me if im wrong

hyperbaric chambers are indeed pressurized; they're mainly used to speed up the healing process on wounds, especially burn wounds...they're also used to treat decompression illness as occurs with divers (caisson)
the use of additional oxygen in hyperbaric chambers is very dangerours since the oxygen under higher pressure becomes much more reactive and prone to enflame...

on the other hand you have oxygen tents; these are basically airtight sleeping bags filled with oxygen where athletes sleep in to be able to take up more oxygen in their blood... (they're obviously not pressurized (1atm)

Oxygen itself is almost always healthy to take; thats why in almost every scenario paramedics will give oxygen to patients.
Only for some people it's dangerous to give oxygen.
normally seen your breathing reflex is triggered by the abundance of CO2 in the lungsbut with some people it is triggered by the actual lack of oxygen.
so if you would give oxygen to these persons while they're passed out they will simply stop breathing because there's too much O2 in their lungs...

thanks for the clarification.....I still dont see why going to an oxygen bar would be dangerous if they give it to you in ambulances and such

Been living here in Breck for 3 years now and the elevation is almost 10,000ft......

everyone ive ever talked to about them (and ive talked to a lot cause I work at a lodge) has said they are pointless.

Tried it once, it was okay. Great for waking up on low amounts of sleep, you feel great for a while.
I want to try it after I run or something. Run 3 miles, your gasping for air, you take a hit of that, and your set to go

hahahah thats funny but it would be interesting to see if it would work....people would look at you weird walking into the bar gasping for air like you ran a marathon but i think it would speed up the process
