Ow! My Shins.

What is the best cure for shins in horrible pain? The lower front part of my shin feels like its bruised or has shin splints every time I walk down steps.

Also, I wear Atomic M9 boots. They're not exactly soft shell park boots. Are these the problem or are shin pains common?

I recently started skiing park for at least a full day twice a week.

shinbang are you landing back seat or anything like that.... what i do is just wear my boots reallyy tight so there is no loose space, cause if there is loose space and you land back seat your shins are gonns smakc the boot and it kills

you may want to get a softer boot. get some dixicups and fill them up with water and freeze them. Rub them on your shins and peel away as the ice melts. Do 15 min on each shin 3x/day

Hey, welcome to Boot Bang! The pain is caused by many different things, but heres the quick and dirty on what to try, in order:

- Heat and ice them for a few hours. You might have just strained the muscles really bad, this will help. If it doesnt....

- Its your skiing: Backseat landings will murder your shins no matter what gear you rock. Land forward, choose your jumps wisely and be easy on yourself for a few weeks until you've had time to heal. Take this shit seriously - I didnt one year, and it was painful every single time I rode, and lasted until AUGUST.

-Try placing foam padding in your boot to lessen the gap between your shin and the top. Sometimes its compression thats bruising them, the foam should help slow the impact and lessen the damage. Also, keeping your straps tighter and using a booster strap/power strap on your boot on just the liner will help.

-Buy new boots. I had to do this after exhausting my options. Sometimes, solid stiff boots are not what your shins want. Test out some boots, and lean forward AND backwards in the shop when you're testing them out. Choose the one that gives you the least amount of pain.

I iced them a few hours after it happened, should I just continue to do it?

Also the boots were Flex 8, I'm not really sure what that compares to in terms of spk. But I am really bummed. My spin landings are backseat, I am not sure how to break that cycle. Also I may have shorted a 60ft (to about 50ft) table :-/...twice...Was a rough landing, but I skied away.

its called shin bang and what you do is stop bein a little bitch bout it and tighten your boots or you can just land correctly but im not one to really talk i get wicked bad shin bang but those are the things i do and they work

those are fine boots, but it's the backseat landings that are killing you. try to stay forward in the air, look at the horizon or over your shoulder, and keep your hands up

two things cause shin bang, landing backseat and casing jumps, so as long as you try not to do those things you should be good

For relief of your current shin bruises get some mole skin from a pharmacy or super market and wrap a thick layer around your big toes. By wrapping the tape around your big toes it makes you walk/stand on your heals and relives shin bruises, it works pretty well.

spk boots dont help shin bang at all, i havent skied in almost a week because i just cant, one backseat landing and i am done for the day or a couple days

i thought every one was full of shit when they said backseat landings give shin bang until this year i realised it was true and i have no idea how or why?
