Overcoming muscle memory

I feel like a lot of skiers at some point hit a progression wall where they have to unlearn some bad technique they learned a while back in order to learn something new. i'm curious if any of you guys had a similar issue that seemed like it took forever to relearn

Rn im in the process of relearning basic ass rail slides bc of some shitty technique i developed like two years ago thats permanently ingrained in my brain. Tragic but it has to be done if i wanna get anywhere.

Its not a bad idea. Plenty of good skiers have even stopped skiing for like a week or two if theyre struggling with a trick just to take a steps back and boil it down to the molecular level and then try it again. I think making an effort to try and correct bad habits and stuff while skiing is gonna benefit you. I used to speedcheck like a motherfucker and learning that speed is your friend with features helps for instance.

I used to speed check hella and it doesn't really matter for tiny 10 foot jumps, but with bigger features you do need speed and I don't intentionally speed check, it just kinda happens sometimes from habit which sucks

Also riding switch, I learned to look over my right shoulder even though I spin left so I need to relearn that
