I traveled down to the suburbs of Albany, NY this weekend to visit my Grandparents for the first time in far, far, too long. I managed to borrow an L-series 50mm (stops down to f/1.2) so I could shoot some portraits and interiors. Here's what I got:

Moral of the story: Go visit your grandparents... you'll find they're even more kickass than you remember. Oh, and the L-series Canon glass is worth every single penny on the ridiculous price tag.

Hahahaha the ones of your grandpa and that camera are amazing - the character development throughout those shots is remarkable.

I love the "Kitchen Sink" and "Rebel Cart" - absolutely fantastic.

Cool shots man, nice work, once again.
 
I said the exact same things, no fair! Yes, the shots of your grandpa were spectacular! Great work as always, your shots constantly inspire me.
 
some of them are not my favorites of what i've seen of your work, but a really like a few, like the rebel cart

Dammit haha I was gonna do a shot just like the rebel cart. Great minds think alike then eh haha? Good shots, however do you get to keep the lense?! What do they need it for?
 
i know... it has me seriously reconsidering what to do with my end of summer budget surplus. I am in crucial need of a new body (The Canon 20d I got 4 years ago with nearly 20,000 actuations and precisely 4 dead pixels) and was gonna go for the 7D (can't justify the xtra grand for full frame 5D right now). After working with the 50mm f/1.2L, however, I'm seriously thinking about purchasing a money lens instead (probably the 35mm f/1.4L). Hmmmmm, as the pondering continues so do the rental glass options.... I've just talked myself out of it... I'm gettin the 7D because glass is just plain easy to rent.
 
these really are spectacular! The textures and depth in the ones of your grandfather are so well done and give such a personality to the picture. Love what you did with the rebel cart too. And the exposure on the waiting one is really cool. A little over exposed? But I love the effect.
 
nah, it was correctly exposed but added a diffuse glow in photoshop to create the erie, ephemeral, nightime feel
 
oh cool. I kinda thought it was a nighttime shot by a street light. but now that i look at it some more, i see what you did. Super dope.
