Outerwear discrimination?

so i will first start off by saying that i am not the one to wear super baggy clothes to ski in and try to act all g. i wear normal fitting clothes and usually something goofy like my gaper coat. i noticed last weekend at mt snow i was treated like a noob by kids who were all thugged out. i would often say dropping and then get snaked or have comments said to me because of what i was wearing. it was interesting because i was able to hold my own against most of the kids talking trash to me about my outerwear. i feel like this has also happened to me in comps where i wasnt judged fairly because i dont choose to wear ghetto clothes. what do you think?

^Never give up, keep doing what your doing, hang around positive people and get better. There just haters. Have fun and pretty soon they won't be saying shit.

if they dont respect you because you dont dress ghetto (why not?) that means you gotta be that much better to get it.

yea pretty much the point i am trying to make is dont hate on someone until after you see them ski and dont prejudge someone based on outerwear

I think what you just described is people in general. You will get shit for wearing baggy, tight, or just any clothes in general up skiing. Obviously your skiing does say something because they weren't hating on that. They picked the one thing they could hate on, your clothes. Just don't let it get to your head, and do your own thing.

have a good laugh about it cause the kids in baggy clothes afterbanging straight slide after straight slide are the real joke, but all that aside ski with your friends, have fun

Don't be a fucker and hate on anyone, even if they suck at skiing. People who think there the shit dressed in baggy as clothing piss my off. Don't be a cocky asshole thinking your the shit cause you dress like that. Go walk around the ghetto and act like that and see how cool you feel.
Don't misunderstand what I am saying. I am not saying that peolple in baggy ass clothes are cocky assholes, most of the are cool and my stuff is baggy sometimes. I am just saying that the ones that are piss me off.

holy shit that is the smartest thing I've ever heard about this. If you wore a whack outfit to a business meeting no one would take you seriously, same with wearing a whack outfit to a terrain park! bam mystery solved.

just picture a business man forum where some guy makes a thread being like "so I wore my pajamas and a leather jacket from hot topic to work today and people like laughed at me and didn't listen to me, even though my work was just as good as theirs, what's with that??"

I don't really fit in with the Gs in the park very well either and occasionally i may have a problem with them being douches to me like you decribed but mainly i just talk to them and they'll soon realise that I am in actual fact just like them only i wear tight clothes and we get along just fine. If they seem like the sort that are going to consistently be fags you gotta stand up for your self, don't be submissive, they wont be as ghetto as they look and there is no reason you should be pushed around.

I get outskied by guys in normal clothes all the time, so I'm not about to hate.
I don't wanna get hated on, so why hate on others? Kinda ruins the idea of a close-knit skiers community. I just wear big clothes because I find them to be mad comfy haha

don't sweat it. when you get a little older it's funny to see 13 year old kids run their mouth about how hood they are then go wait for their mom to pick them up in a minivan. just rattle your car keys and see if they look excited.

Gaper one piece on a kid with serious park skis, Hilarious no matter how good or bad they are. Spread eagles and double daffys bring joy to the masses.
Gaper jacket, normal pants = not fully committing to something that could be funny -> amazing at park, people left confused.
normal pants, normal jacket = treated normal -> amazing at park, treated amazingly
thugged out = treated normal -> amazing at park, treated amazingly
thugged out = treated normal -> horrible at park, hopefully they have really good friends and don't act like they are this shit cause people will notice.

So either try to act like a total nut and throw your gapper moves so people see the humor, or throw on a normal jacket. I think people are just confused and don't get what you are trying to accomplish. Not quite the same as the business situation, more of like high school prom with the kid who dresses in the dumb and dumber suit. If the kid isn't a dick and people actually like him, he will be hilarious, but could you imagine the kid no one knows showing up in black suit pants and a bright orange jacket?

Skiing is a fashion show so don't let it bother you

I consider it my mission to look as ridiculous as possible so people judge me, i love getting those looks haha

tight clothes in the park? thats like being that guy at the beach who wears the speedo

nahh jk seriosuly just do what you want to do.. i have mad respect for people who dont give a damn about what others are doing or whats "popular"

in the words of ice cube "Do ya thang man, fuck what they lookin' at"

i'm down wid it.
seriously though, i'm so sick of this kind of bullshit. skiing used to be so laid back and community based. Now its like you have to jump through so many fucking hoops just so that you won't get flack from every tall T wearing asshole in the park. rock what you think looks good, and just be happy with that. Thats it.

Naawww mannn this is what is wrong with the scene. Business meetings fucking blow and so does the corporate world because you have to dress a certain way, act a certain way and do the same thing everyone else is.

Skiing should be about riding, dressing and presenting yourself the way you want to and you shouldn't give a fuck what all your haters think, just appreciate their presence and publicity.

What about Blake Nyman, hes a totally accepted skier and he doesn't wear huge stuff. While everyone is doing it, not EVERYONE is doing it.

Does it really matter? If it's your style then stick with it. Who cares what other people think? If you're that good at skiing people will notice regardless of if you ski in cutoff jeans or OG outerwear.

it doesn't matter what you wear, have fun with it. poeple will be all bitchy, but hell, they normally are. so just ignore it
