Ive heard a few people here say "why wear baggy be original" or something with that message behind and i was just wondering what they mean by this. Some people wear tight pants, some wear baggy some wear jackets, some wear tall hoodies and some people wear fitted stuff.

Dressing in any of these ways is not original so what do you mean. Discuss

I wouldn't say "be original" more like "think for your self" it pisses me of that so many people wear baggy ass clothes and tall tees just cos its the in thing and its trendy and then they will come off the hill and wear tight jeans and normal fitting tee shirts. If all the people on ns were actually big gangsta rap fans before the most fashionable pros used it in an edit and they always dressed like "a thug" id be cool with it but its obviously not the case. Why do people try so hard to be cool and hip? as far as i can see thats the least cool thing you could do. Skiing would be way more interesting with a bit more individuality.

I guess so yeah, but also less doing things just cos of the preasure that fads and trends have on you. Like i far too often get the vibe that people think they have to dress a certain way cos its the only way accepted by the majority on NS.

I agree. Also it's just natural for kids to want to have the outerwear that the pros are wearing, so people should stop hatin if all someone does is ask "what coat is that?"

yeah, but it would be good if there was more variety out there, like even with the pros they just wear whats "cool" not so much what they have decided they like if you understand me? I was super stoked to jossi wearing tight pants, it was like the first big name i've ever seen not dress in super baggy stuff, I guess Jon does his own thing a bit but he still def wears baggy clothes cos its whats popular, i'm pretty sure he even said so in his blog once.I don't mean to sing the praises of tight pants too much or put down baggy clothes at all, there many ways you could take your look, what i would like to see is people thinking about the options they have not just copying tom wallisch or who ever straight away.

the whole point of baggy cloths ect. as i see it in freeskiing is not the lack of us being individuals, its quite the opposite. there are so many more skiers out there that wear cloths that fit (the older population, as well as the young'ns) that freestyle skiers (teens and twenties for the most part) are trying to be different than that. the people that wear baggy cloths in the ski industry is still such a minority that you could probably call it somewhat individual to rock it like that. it seems a bit repetitive in our eyes because our small group of skiers do often dress close to the same way, but it has ever really bothered me because there isn't really a fad to all wear the same colors yet.

I see that, but there are differet ways to stand out from the more traditional skiers, and you would want to, with our sport being largely about style i think it is good to show that you have your own style or at least can think indipendantly even if not everyone agrees with you. See what snowboarding has become in this respect, i fully expect that will happen to us, there will be tight pants, baggy pants, gypsys, rockers, gangsers, lampshade steeze, tall tees, bright colours, dull coulors, paterns and so on. Not only will we stand out from the crowd we will stand out from each other as well. I see it as a matter of time but i dont understand why it hasn't happened already, or how it ever ended up the way it is.

Wear what the fuck you want. Let other people wear whatever they want. Does it really make a difference to you what some other kid is wearing, I'm pretty sure everyone has the freedom to wear what the want.

StartFragmentStartFragmentEveryone has their own style thatis being expressed in their outerwear. I think people should wear what’scomfortable try shit on to get an idea before they buy it. I think sobaggy that you jacket and pants get in the way is unnecessary but wearing pantsso tight you cant touch the ground is stupid and a jacket so small you mightrip the arms if you tried to spin. I rock the saga jacket just cause itsgot a fresh, dope look and I’ve known about it four years now, since Austin wastrying to sell me his used suit. I don't fancy Oakley too much cause thewater proofing sucks a fat one, but I have the pants anyway cause they weredirt cheap. And gotta keep it real with a Rime Knit and support thoseguys. If you try too hard to look thugged out or whatever your going forthen everyone is going to see that. All of the originality comes from you EndFragmentEndFragment

Like I agree with that but I'd come down the mountain and rep some tight-ish pants with a semi loose fitting tee. Nothing wrong with that

ye th only skier i have ever seen rock baggy pants out side of skiing is Henrik. i rock sagged slim fit jeans and an xl err day and its just right.but like ok here is an example, just because you wear tight jeans it does not mean that you would feel more comfy wearing a speedo when you swim, it just all depends on what your doing.

I just wear baggy outerwear because it's comfortable and warm. When I used to wear medium or large snowpants, it just didn't feel right.

your all dumb, dumb, and dumb
how many of you have a rap sheet? if you dont then dont try to be someone your not. Whats cooler, being you or being a want a be

be original, pfff. wear whatever the fuck you likei don't like tight pants, but i'm gunna wear them because its original? noi like baggy stuff, i wear baggy stuff.

I wear baggy stuff on the hill, and I wear J. Crew off it (I'm not a bro). I don't wear big clothes on the hill because it's the cool thing to do, I do it because I like skiing in big clothes. What you wear is just that: clothing and nothing else. I think when you start acting like a thug when you're really an upper-middle class white kid is when the identity crisis comes into play.

i'm 21 and i still wear a studded belt and listen to punk music (amongst other types obv). Do you think that as these young ums get older they will slowly become themselves? and when they do and there is a lot of different styles going on in the older generation of skiers wil the young kids just be confused by whats cool and whats not enough tomake a choice for them selfs? that'd be sweet.
so loong as rolling up you pants goes out the window soon. ;)

im going for a unique style this year

purp saga pants

green and white nordica jacket b\thats not too baggy

and a white giro helm

Im going for nicley baggy but also sleek and a dirty color pattern dark to light you know?

dang thats sick! he has such good style with tight pants, looks like he just sewed some oakleys. its nice to see that atleast ONE big pro out there isnt afraid to dress how he wants.

Wear what you wanna wear, who cares what other people think. Just cause you like baggy clothes does not mean your trying to be a typical park skier. And if you don't like baggy clothes, there is no need to hate, no one is making you wear it. Same goes for tight pants and all other styles. I personally like baggy clothes. I don't just like it cause its what everyone else is wearing, I just like the way it looks and feels. I'm not trying to be hood or ghetto either. But I don't feel the need to hate on anyone else with a different style. WHY IS EVERYONE SO OBSESSED WITH WHAT OTHER PEOPLE WEAR. Calm down with the hate.

The main objective is to click into your skis and slide down the hill. But actually, if you want to get down to it, thats only really the point if you make it the point. The point is, there is no point to skiing whatsoever. The only point that is, is the point that people make points out of utter pointlessness. Whatever, fuck it.

im a big fan of trying to be original simply by getting a style or brand that no one else has. it is tough but if you do your research you can succeed. last year i saw only a handful of people with my color/brand jacket it was sweet.

It is cool wearing stuff that nobody knows about, because you feel like a baller for knowing about it

I like to sag my pants a little and I do enjoy very much putting on a tall tee rather than a regular tee. and people are always asking me why I wear such large tee shirts and I dont do it to be cool or hip or anything I just do it because it's comfortable and matches my style. and I dont care about tight pants or anything I would never do it myself but hey, if you shred as hard as anyone else on the mountain, then its cool with me

how do i do it to be cool when pretty much no one i know does it and i end up standing out most of the time?

Any outfit that anyone wears in some way or form is either trying to be cool, blend in which means copying or standing out (which means again your trying to be cool). Dont say shit like i wear it cause its comfy because if that was the case i would wear my fuckin bedsheets to the hill or mayybe even a snuggy.

It's all about being comfortable, for some people this is baggy stuff, while towards others its fitted stuff. People need to stop hating on what everyone is wearing, whatchu wear is whatchu wear. No need for hate.
