Outback/legacy vs forester

I'm looking for a new car and I'm trying to decide between a legacy/outback or forester. Which car has the biggest trunk/back seat/interrier space?
 
Don't know how tall you are, but for me outbacks/legacys have always seemed to cramped. The ceiling is to low and to rounded on the sides. The forester (I have an '05 XT) has a large ceiling that goes straight up on the side. For example I've been able to fit:

- Kayak

- 2 29' Mountain Bikes

- Everything from 4 years in college

Definitely go with the forester. You might look like a lesbian but it balls out.
 
older foresters were built on the impreza chassis and are quite small especially in the back seat.

I learned to drive in a '97 legacy wagon and I loved that thing to death. I now drive a '99 forester and my mom drives an '05 forester. if your main criteria is bigger trunk space the legacy is longer but the forester might be a bit taller. the area in the back seat is much larger in the legacy than the forester. however if you like to sit up higher, the forester sits higher than the legacy obviously.
 
I still don't understand NS's fascination with subarus. Sure, they're great AWD cars but they're all ass ugly.

twice the amount to replace the parts or to actually get them replaced? and with the audi youre not stuck driving in a japanese lesbian car.
 
man, it really sucks having a torx set instead of a hex set, especially when they cost the same. man i love being manly and torx bolts suck.
 
Not a huge fan of new Mustangs, but the older ones are nice. Camrys? hell no. Can't really talk shit about Pontiac since my first car was a white '95 4-door sunfire. Loved that thing to death and didn't mind the way it looked.

New subarus, besides the wrx/sti and the legacy...look like absolute shit. They have been getting progressively uglier over the years. The only reason there still in business is because they offer reliable cheap awd cars.
 
Is that sarcasm? I genuinely don't like any saabs and same goes for subarus (well theres like one or two that I sorta like). I got that accord because it fit my needs/wants/budget perfectly.
 
i'm pretty sure the forester will have more interior space. i had a 96 legacy outback all through college and it really could fit a lot inside it. I wouldn't hesitate buying an old subaru from a legit used dealer who has already replaced the stuff that always breaks on subarus...head gaskets and something else...

i recently found a nice '05 audi a4 avant with really low miles. interior space seems about the same as an outback, but the quality of everything is so much better. i'll trade it in before stuff starts breaking though.
 
I really want a forester xt and make sti upgrades to it. They are so damn hot. I really want to keep it all stock in the shell except for the sti hood. Shit would be so cash
 
You mean genius? Oh and sorry I'm not a hobby mechanic that mods their car. I know the basics, enough to change the oil and keep it running clean. Also I'm sorry it doesn't have a rack ontop of it for skis.

I have a 05 XT. Great fuckin' car and is actually pretty damn fast. People are definitely surprised when they try to get around me and I fuck with em.
 
i own a 1999 outback, and the space is great. My suggestion would be to get an outback or legacy, buy ski racks. Put your skis on the racks and still have the whole inside for all your gear!
 
Ok I misspoke. The newer Imprezas are nice, but other than that, I can't stand the rest of their cars.
 
legacy is longer and better for car camping. fit three bikes and 3 people in it one time, and my entire life in it with sleeping room another time. might get a bit bigger engine than the base model; mine gets its ass kicked on big hills ('04 model) I don't really care though.
 
Going to say it again like I do in ever car thread, and like usual I'll get shot in for it. I to love audis, but subarus awd is 1000x better than quattro from my experences
 
just get a fucking real SUV

get an outback and a forester and look like a soccer mom
