This is false. First, this video is super lame. Second, whoever thinks a GTI is faster than a WRX STI is an absolute idiot. GTI is an amazing car but is lacking about 100 bhp. The WRX compared with the STI above is the first edition of the new generation WRX (not and STI), which was total shit. THe second edition of the new WRX gen would smoke the GTI. The STI in this vid is a badass car(especially for a ski car), much doper than the newer generation hatchback 45k Subaru in my opinion.

I'll go ahead and disagree there. A GTI with $5000 under the hood would be pointless, because once you got it to 300hp it would just torque steer everywhere and wouldn't get around a corner. If you've ever driven a supped up MS3, its impossible, its just stupid. Even a stock MS3 at 260hp is pretty ridiculous. You could swap an r32 engine into it for the AWD I guess but that would cost more than 5 gs I would imagine. An STI with $5000 under the hood would be stupid fast.

In that price range I'd have an Evo anyway though, the new generation is noticeably better than the new STI.

I was looking at an STi too, but with mpg ratings like 23/31, you just can't beat the GTI. And besides, the GTI is faster.

very valuable post, ill agree with most of it...

my good friend just sunk $5000 into his sti, its over 400whp.

a week ago we got a kid next to us in a gti. he revved. we knew we would wipe the floor with him. he rapped us. i dont want to talk about it.

im removing this thread from my watch, im out. i dont care anymore
 
I've heard from multiple people that the hatchbacks are faster and have better handling. Could be bullshit?Either way i want 1st Gen cause they are my personal favorite.My friend has a Legacy GT wagon that is sick and i also know someone with a Legacy GT sedan that has the STi engine in it. That car looks normal but slays.
 
I wish they would have just put the back from the MkVI on the front from the MkV and it would have been one of the most sexy hatchbacks ever.

A GTI is not faster than an STI though I don't know where you got that from.
