Our rail

Here is the rail we built last night. Came out pretty good overall. It cost around 0$ to make. Its 100% steel and is really sturdy. Its 12 feet long and around 2 1/2 feet high. 12 feet was the longest we could make it so it would still somewhat fit into the back of my truck and it wasn't too hard to get it in there. Now alls we need is alittle bit of snow on the ground and we'll see what shes got.

Sorry about the picture quality, they were taken with my cellphone :\

Yeah I guess you can call it box but I didn't want to make it any longer than 12 feet because it wouldn't be center balanced in the back of my truck/s 6 foot bed and would stick out to far. It's to mess around on and make for easy transport so we'll see how it works out. I can't wait for there to be some snow on the ground so we can set it up.

I built the rail at my friends fencing company and had an unlimited number of supplies so if i wanted to I could have made the rail 500 feet long and 20 feet high but I decided to keep it small and simple. Something to practice on.

Thanks for the comments though guys keepem comin.

Yep. You can't really see from the picture but they are steel I beams and are really sturdy. Its perfects but the I beams wont move when in the snow because of their shape.

We have a bunch of pictures on my friends phone of the process of building it which I will post up when he puts them on his computer. I think the best part about the rail is it fits right in my f-150 and u just need 2 tie downs to keep it from sliding out. (you need to tail gate down)

Instead of just critisizing it why don't you tell me why its going to be so hard compared to other metal rails... please do fill me in. Its my first time building one so stop trying to shut me down.

What is the plastic/plexiglass material or whatever base material they use on the professionally done rails?

That's alot of steel. I think it should slide fine, maybe a bit slow. Honestly just break it into 3 rail sections each one 2 pipes wide. That way you can fit them in your truck and also have enough to make a 36ft dfd or fdf or whatever the fuck u would want.

It will slide so much smoother if its just two pipes wide.

Thanks man.. how much would it cost for 10" x 12' or does it go by sheets I can't figure it out. Approxiamatley how much would I be looking at to cover my rail?

ya thats a pretty ill setup. and you have pretty much unlimited resources so make a double barrel thats longer or kinked when you get better.

Yeah my friend owns a fencing company and they have an area full of scrap metal. Every kind of metal. I'm hoping to find a good design and make a couple good ones this winter. Anyone that has snow want to donate some to New York so I can try this rail out?

next time just make shotgun rails that are the same height and that way you can still fit them in the back of your truck, and have a 24 fter

nah, you can hit double barrel rails anywhere. I've never seen anything like a 5 barrel rail. It looks rad. Let us know if it works (like if it doesn't tear your edges off).

you should have made two shotgun the same lenght, that way you can still fit them in your truck and you could set them up one after another or kink em

i dont know what a shotgun rail is but we had to use what was there... It was our friends fencing shop, unlimited supplies but not unlimited types of metals

Theres enough scrap metal in this dumpster to make 300 rails. We definatley gonna be doing something else. If I like the setup with the 5 tubes then I can just make an identical copy and make a 24 foot flat rail or a up down.. kink.. anything.

thanks for all the comments guys. criticism is always good so you can improve on something the next time.

yeah we were already talking about doing that for our next rail when we were high last night. Its good practice for now though. Now who wants to donate snow.

Nigga sean is a perfect backround for that pic

dude thats sick u should ship me some. but seriously u should make some double barrels and shit that would be sick

nice i agree with most people that a double barrel would b better and instead make a few 12 ft sections

how did u get the supplies and how did u attach the pipe
