Our generation has no purpose.

Every American generation has had a purpose. From the Pilgrims to the colonial Americans to the anti war protests of the sixties. Its not the fact that America is perfect in fact I feel that it is far from perfect. I feel that the problem is that America’s youth doesn’t care. No one cares that this country is being destroyed from the inside out. Our government is fighting a war it can’t win against the rest of the world, our privacy is being invaded, our constitution is being violated and the world hates us.

So what do the majority of American kids decide to do? Say fuck it and fuck the rest of the world. They blindly believe America is the greatest and sole superpower in the world and that this position is unchallenged and everlasting. Even on a smaller scale there is no fighting for a cause. I recently read an article about a group of students that were suspended for wearing anti war tee shirts at school and were required to walk around the rest of the day wearing lost and found items of clothing. Right in the fucking Constitution there is an amendment that says FREEDOM OF SPEACH.

Well I have to go so I didn’t get to write as much as I wanted to but in closing fight for your rights, form your own opinions, violence is the crutch of the moronic, and nothing is forever.

oh yeah, and i really dont give a fuck about whats happening, im 18 i could care less, when im 65 and retired, sipping coffee in mcdonalds then maybe ill have an opinion on the government. basically i have more important things to worry about in my life than the fucking beat ass government.

Listen buddy...I don't where in the country you live, but how the hell can you say that. Theres no proof of anything you stated. Im an american and I don't think were the greatest superpower, and frankley I don't know anyone who does. What kids have said fuck it? Where do you get your information?
 
I dont think kids think america is the only great superpower. Most of my friends are smart enough to realize that we are not all-mighty anymore. Personally i think our country is going to get fucked over because of its involvment in the middle east. We still act like its our job ot police the world, when we really need to focus on domestic issues and get our shit togather before we go and dump billions on some war.

Personally i dont give a shit about our government bcause im going to get out of america as soon as i can. Its no longer the same great country that our parents grew up with, today were just trying to hold onto the past.

and as far as those kids that didnt fight having thier shirts taken away, you cant base an entire generation on a couple of retards who are too lazy to stand up to thier school. 
 
Trust me man, 20 years from now, our kids will be saying the same damn thing about their generation and then point out a purpose for ours, you think the protest generation of the 60's though that they were being constructive by protesting? No, they wanted to bring the Nixon and Johnson administrations down in flames, they didnt care how; half of them probably thought at the time that they were nothing more than pointless anarchists while reflecting upon the previous generations in much the same way that you have just now. It always takes a few decades for a generation to define its true role in history, trust me, throughout the years you havnt been the only one voicing similar concerns. we too will have a role to play yet.
 
in my opinion our generation is stupid and weak. many people in our generation care more about what they see on laguna beach than getting a job and supporting themselves. its sad.
 
You cant group people into generations because it doesnt represent everybody. The people of the 1960's protesting were not even close to representing the majority of people. The pilgrims were just trying to make a living, it is not like they were all destined to do the same thing. Even if you do group people into generations, generations are named after they happened. It is not like Thomas Jefferson and Ben Franklin called themeselves the founding fathers. History has named them that.
 
We could be the generation that makes rash generalizations that not everybody agrees with. We could also be the one that makes up words like "speach."
 
on a sidenote, what do you think our generation will be called?

theres generation x, the beat generation, the lost generation, etc.

do you think our genration can pull off have a kickass name like those?

any ideas?

actually, yes i do believe america is the sole super power, it my not be everlasting as you put it, but as of now we are THE ONLY superpower in world. and i say great fuck everybody else ( you may say that i am un intelligent and uncocerned about the rest of the world) well i will tell you what is wrong with a little nationalism? i am AMERICAN, not german american or irish american or african american but i am 100% whole hearted, red blooded, bomb dropping american. we are #1 that is why the rest of the world dosent like us, (it is the same reason people hate the yankees cause) if they dont like us fuck off well stop sending you our foriegn aid.

then you may argue that were are only in the middle east cause of oil, well duh good i am sick of paying 3 dollars a gallon nuke the fuckers and take the oil is what i say

Well if your American enjoy the view from the top while it lasts because history shows that superpowers collapse. I am guessing that the next great superpower to replace the U.S will be China.
 
to add i think the United states needs to stop worring about who we might piss off, it is everybody else who should be worried about pissing us off.

 
We do have a purpose. To keep China from taking over the world with their super economy and easy prep Top Ramen.
 
do you relise that the US produces about 39% of world GDP, 1 country is over 1/3 of the entire worlds economy.
 
all other "superpowers" or great empires since superpower is post ww1 terminolgy, have been that empirrialistic. and would conquer and colonized eventuall leading to their down fall, frome rome to mongolia, the british empire and the great soviet state. the US has not we have as our forfathers had inteded always after winnig a war of liberating a people have returned the governmet to the people to govern themsleves.

Our generation's purpose is to reverse the effects of past generations, and try to make this world wholesome again. It should be our ambition to regain power from the ad-men of this world, and restore some sense of sanity and cultural identity that has been hijacked from us by authorities and the MAN.

 
yes i do realize that, why is it that they are all okay to defend thier nationality if someone were to attack it yet i as an american cannot with out being ridaculed. so what if people are from other countries they can kiss my big fat american ass if they dont like what i have to say. i have not said anything negative about any other country in my resopnses to this thread all i have done is defended my self as an american.
 
and further more just cause our generation has not engaged and some all intagable social, cultural or politacal change does not make us any less meaaningful. So we did not fight a world war, free slaves, end segragation, or even walk on the moon, we are productive memebers of society. if there comes a point for us to overcome a great obsticle, i sure we will attack with the same utmost fort6itude as previous generations have. i just dont see the point to sit around and bitch at ourselves for not overcoming anything because we havnt had to. get a job be productive and quit whinning

i say we need to focus on hat is going on in our country. we are all so caught up in foregin shit that we have no idea what is going on in the US

You are pretty ignorant to the history of the past US generations. You think this is the first time we have fought a pointless war? HAHAHA. Read some history my friend.

Second of all, you think our rights have never been violated before? Hmm I seem to recall rounding up Japanese-AMERICAN citizens and putting them in camps during WW2. I think that may have been a tiny violation of rights. What you said makes no sense and you are just conjurring thoughts that aren't relative to one another. I do agree youth voting is low, but it is always low.

thanks, but i love how all the poeple calling me a dumbass cant put together an intelligible response other than calling me a dumbass or a stupid fuck, i call on you to elaborte your opinion. what makes me a dumbass? because i am proud to be american, or that i openly state i am proud to be american?

When in Europe i heard a bunch of people that were american say they were canadian to avoid the hassle and that is an insult to me. i am proud of my country and my history, if others dont like it so what.

 
i was just in Barcolona last november, budapest april 93, and i spent almost a month there winter break of 99(london, munich, amsterdam, mutiple places in between, and spent New years eve in prague, absinthe what a night). On what basis are you telling me i have never been to Europe. what is your basis for even making a statement like that?

THIS is what is wrong with america. Yes, we are the worlds superpower, but with that comes a shitload of responsibility. just b/c we're a bigger, and some might argue, better countrie, that doesn't by any streatch of the imagination make it our right to "nuke those fuckers".
 
thank you for your response. well my take is a more of a machiavellian aproach, why do we have to take on the responsablity? The rest of the world relies on us, i for one am sick of it. As the strongest country (millitarally) why should we let a group of 3rd world courties dictate our oil prices. Now when i said nuke them, that may have been a little over board. My main point was that i am sick of people saying the only reason we care or are involved in the middle east is oil. Yes, yes we all know why deny it oil, petrolium, sweet crude what ever you want to call it, that is why we are envolved there. I for one, am for it, at least there is an economic reason for us to be there. and not just some UN civil liberty peace keeping assignment.

 
it's like a person eating all his lunch, and all the lunches of the people sitting with him at his table. then after that's all gone, he just goes to other tables and takes theirs. a little bit assholeish i would think, right? i dunno. we can't have everything, we just deal with it by using other ways besides oil, but it seems everyone procrastinated until now to try and figure it out even though they knew it was going to happen.
