OUR box story.

So today we decided to start our box that we've been talking about all summer. We discussed our plans and took a trip up to home depot and threw down 70$ for wood and acrylic sheets. We also salvaged some wood from our friends house thats being added on to. Heres our progress after day 1 (today)

I like the idea of having something underneath the acrylic sheet, but I don't think that looks very nice. I think it would look nicer if there was some sort of pattern, but you know, it is up to you guys.

It looks like a solid box!

What kind of acrylic are you using for the topsheet? We're trying to build on ein metals class, but we dont know what to use for a topsheet. That professional stuff, uhs hdigh 3 or w/e it was, is fucking expensive...

hey I just realised that lexan is what nalgene bottles are made of, but I bet the acrylic will work well. Sick Box by the way

We finished the box tonight and it looks incredible. We were really suprised how well it turned out for only 70$ and 2 afternoons of work. The acrylic top sheet seems like it will work fine on skis but we will know for sure on wednesday when we test it out. Heres the final pics:

i dunno ddude we just went to home depot and picked up whatever seemed like it would slide the best, it just said 36 x 72 acrylic sheet on the wrapper. It was 40 bucks so it was cheaper than plexiglass and especially lexan.

yeah the thickness doesnt really matter as long as you can get it screwed down well which we did, if you do that right only the top takes a beating and it doesnt matter if its 2 in. thick or 1/4 in. thick

-------------------------------------

"i
f you do the sickest switch cork ever people will still say why dont you have bigger pants" - Fr2planker

^sick box man. What you said though is completly untrue about thickness. lets compare this to ninjas and boards shall we? Alright imagine ninja tom. tom wants to break a board, so he gets out a 1/4" thick board. Think he can do it? Of course he can, he is a ninja. So tom kicks the boards ass. Feeling quite cocky, tome goes for a 2x4. Tom ends up crying in the corner because his hand hurts and his ego hurts from not being able to break the board. so tom is a smart ninja and decides to put holes in it (essentially screws). now since the board is weakened, Ninja Tom can break the board and feel happy again. word

if its on top of the flat chip board and screwed down tight it doesnt really matter, also, we got the thickest shit we could find

yeah i know what you mean but like what colin said its screwd down to the supports (2x4)'s and 1/4 inch chip board so i dunno if it would matter but i could be wrong

nice dude, making boxs and rails and shit during the summer is the way to go. so far this is what me and my bud have got

DSC01241.jpg

DSC03735.jpg

DSC00932.jpg

everything was free, except the plastic we put on our 3 boxs (which was a nice dent in the pocket of $120)

scrapt metal is the way to, where working on a c rail right now

i built 4 rails wit my friend this summer...one is a 10 flat rail...one is a 4 foot flat down that sucked ass. another is a 2 foot box that was for his little bro and my newest one is a 190 inch down flat down flat that is so sweet ill take a pic and post it on the site

those look nice but can you make your own forum please? not trying to be an ass or anything haha.

thanks and goodwork so far

how wide and how tall is that thing? looks dope.

JW: Will skiers ever be as “ cool as skaters? I think we’re trying way too hard.

CV: NO, our sport is way to inaccessible. You cant just go skiing, you need snow, mountains, expensive skis, boots, poles, goggles, clothes and then a car to even get to the mountain and finally pay way too much for a pass. Skating, all you need is a skateboard that is why we will never be “as cool.

thats some pretty sick stuff....good work ...a friend of mine n i built a 3ft tall 16ft long box last summer..its sick..we used lexan for the topsheet. Plus we got the lexan for FREE !
