yo i'm thinking about going to ottowa this weekend...my roomate just got back from there and said it was sick

anyone know the best bars/clubs to party at? are there any wicked cheap hotels? anyone think ottowa is dope or was it just him, how are the ladies and all that? let me know thanks
 
i go to college in northern ny, we're just going for a night to party and hit up clubs and shit, any advice ?
 
yeah, either hit up elgin st. or the market downtown, they're the two most popular places. or, if you're 18 or feeling frisky, you can cross the river and club it up in hull.
 
I guess if you're 18 and live in Ottawa you can basically drink legally because it is in Quebec a bit too...I've never thought of that.

depends how old you are..if your nighteen hit the market, if your 18 go to hull (if you do theres only two clubs: la bop and cosmos. bring two pieces of ID)
 
if you're 19, it depends what you're looking for. Mingloewoods near Ottawa U is good times, has 10 dollar picthcers which is decent,,its a decent size, and has a good pub feel with a dance floor up top. York Street: On Tap is where all the hos go and is pretty much just dancing and drunk sluts. Pub 101 is decent, 3 floors, but not overly big. The Cabin is my hate of all hates, I hate it, I never want to go there again. Whiskey west, sometimes good live music. Scartch, ultra dancehall. Ollie's is the place ot be thursday night over anywhere else. If you go to hull, go on a thursday, no other ngith is wirth it.
 
10 bucks for a pitcher, thats insane....i can get it for 5 bucks in new york at the right places. back home a really good special would be one dollar pitchers, good times...
 
yeah, avergae on a friday night is like 10+, 12 usually. But beer is expensive in Canada. Considering a beer is like 5 bucks wit htip.

1$ pitchers? you have to be kidding me. that is bullshit. so is 5$. do you even know what a pitcher is? 60 oz of beer. are you even old enough to drink? what is a bottle? 12 oz? so 5 beers in pitcher. if you had 1$ pitchers, you could got o a bar on 5$ and be incoherently drunk.

im not sure how light beer is in the states but 5% in canada means 5% which is the normal.

no bar can make there money back that way.

5$ = 5 pitchers = 25 beers. you are so full of bullshit its coming out your mouth. maybe bring 1$ for tips on that 5$, so 6$ night at the bar.

5$ pitchers? even then that is hard to believe. but i know 8$ pitchers on cheapest nights in canada is almost as low as it goes. maybe 1$ cheper. so MAYBE 5$

plus there is no cover at this place either. so maybe 1$ pitchers and 50$ cover.

as for places to go in ottawa.

thursday night = oliver's if your from carleton, 101 for 3$ jagr bombs anad 11$ pitchers of rickards. then collection /56 for hip hop stuff, zaphods for old school jams, and im not sure what else

but definately oliver's and 101 is key.

friday ,hmm, well there are the regualr places. helsinki apparantly has 11$ pitchers of keiths for 3$ cover. and its hip hop. minglewoods/101 for cheap ppitchers and pub atmosphere. on tap for hot sluts and shitty music (but its still fun sometimes) and like 3$ cover, zaphods for good music moderate prices 3$ cover.

not sure what else ther eis. i dunno same eal saturday, find some music somewhere. ottawa is not a party town unless you go out with friends.
 
2$ beers is reasonable. you get 1$ beers in montreal. not in ottawa thoguh. but 1$ pitchers is just absurd , youw oul lose money on every p itcher you served.
 
haha, im serious, they're 1 dollar pitchers... 60 ounces of mouth watering barley pop! its a 5 dollar cover to get in and they get you at the billards table, charging you 5 bucks or so an hour for playing.
 
I've had dime beer on a bunch of occasions. All it is is dead kegs. If you haven't tapped it in 2 weeks, it's shit and it needs to be got rid of as quickly as possible. On Canada day here we had a couple of places where you got a beer for any coin. Including a penny. That's 100 beers for a dollar, or 20 pitchers, for a dollar, or 5 cents a pitcher. Believe it.

Too bad dead beer tastes like shit. But if you go to enough Engineering beer gardens you get used to it. Mmm... 20 day old Rickards...
 
ok im wrong. i apologize. that is absolutely absurd. i can't believe it. i mean it is so cheap you would never have to worry about spending too much money at the bar. i'm sorry but no one has any reason to spend over 20$ at that bar. 1$ pitchers? honestly 5$ gets you hospitalized (no one here drinks 25 beers in a night athe bar)

wow. man your lucky then. but in real life pitchers are 10-15$ in canada. bottles are 2-5$, pints are 3-6$, shots are 3-6$ (average prices)

yeah, its pretty sweet...you have to realize that everyone goes out pretty much every night in iowa city, so they have to keep the prices really cheap. the cue sticks at that bar are overpriced...i broke one once, set me back 20 bucks for a 3 dollar stick, bastards
 
i had 1.75 keiths somewhere's on saturday night. I'll check my visa receipts and get back to you on that. I also saw some pretty fucked up costumes.. girlfriend took me to the Mercury Lounge and I saw a 2 latex angels.. it was an interesting experience. that place seemed a little too fine-artsey for me.

Hearts and crowns usually has good pub music and a large crowd. Honest Lawyer is fun to go to because it's an arcade. I fight whenever I go to either whiskey or the cabin - so i avoid them.
 
or because of the hockey game, I was there for the first Leafs-Sens game, they had it separated, but... people were getting pretty mouthy.
