Osgood Schlatters... help

my friend has it, I'll ask him about it and post back here (but I think that a lot will already have been posted by then)

i had it reallly bad when i was younger. just take lots of tylonal and rotate ice and heat on them. they suck and there not to much you can do besides take it easy for a long time. it looks like i have two kneecaps now.

get some custom made footbeds man they will help a ton. also u will grow out of it so dont be too pissed about it

i had it really bad when i was younger too.but beside rest and tylonal i whore this strap thing around my lower knee between where the painful bump is and my knee cap. and just whore it when i was playing sports or skiing. i would just try it out, you can buy them at like rite aid or something.

wear one of those knee wraps you buy at walmart, helped get me thorough the pain. but if you break the growth plate in your knee it will fix it(did for me in my left leg)

my cousin and friend had that like a bitch.

my cousin won States in pole vault despite it, i think we used a knee wrap

don't worry too much, it only affected me a couple of years of skiing when i was 14 or so. the trick is when you wake up before skiing, heat it with a warm cloth for about 10 min and then after skiing ice it for about 20 min. that should help. fair warning though, it will be a little stiff if you're taking long car rides. it just comes with the territory but you won't be doing any real damage to your knee so keep skiing hard. it'll eventually pass but you will always have that bump

I know how you feel, my right knee has the worse case of it that my doctor has ever seen. They only advice he gives me is to ice it during breaks and take some ibuprofin (advil), advil is better than tylenol in this case according to my nursing professor... but I would try both and see what works for you. Good Luck

BINGO...go to walgreens or rite aid or purchase them online but those straps are extremely helpful. I bought "Cho-Pat" straps, but you can search for patella straps because it's really your patella tendon. Good luck, they work wonders

been there done that....had it in 8th grade, saw a doctor and said to take 2 months off of b-ball and so i did, and bam, it was better...................and if u don't take time of of wutever ur doin, later on in life you'll have to get bone shaved off of your knee and have surgery and you growth could affected...........so TAKE TIME OFF

I had it a few years back and my doctor said that stretching, lenghtining your hamstrings helps because it reduces pressure.

I also had to strap my knee cap a certian way to reduce it. Just ice it after sport, not much you cna do its just growing up :)

used to have it and my younger brother has it now. It put me off the snow for about five weeks. What made it get better was every day ride on a stationary bike with no resistance for about a half hour. It doesn't put strain on your knee but it helps strengthen the surrounding muscles. When I went to the doctor he said to just take it real easy, stretch A LOT, and do little strengthening exercises without putting stress on your knee, such as biking.

I had it really bad when I was 13.. like, couldn't walk the day after an hour of soccer. But, my doctor made me bite the bullet, so I wore a stovepipe cast for 10 weeks.. physio after that and I've never the pain return.
