maybe its just me, but i find it so hard to be original when creating edits nowadays.. its like every single song i like has already been used in a movie or when i find a song that hasn't been used in one and i plan to use it then it gets used in a movie before i use it or i find out that it was used in one back in the day... this happen to anyone else?? i dont really care but i know if i post an edit or short clip with that song then i'm gonna get shit comments and ratings for "not being original"

anyway, what are your thoughts?
 
i always thought it was kind of stupid to ridicule somebody for using a song previously used in another movie. i mean, its a fucking song. if the music fits the segment/edit well, why should it matter if it has been used five years ago? its not like the song was created for that ski movie segment; it was created to be enjoyed. so if the music can be appreciated to another skier, why not use the song?
 
god you hit that right on the spot. good job. I mean its not like you put the song in your edit to be like the pros or something. You put a song in your edit or segment because it expresses the vibe or individuality you want to express. So why not just use any song you would like. Unless it doesnt fit your style at all then use the song to express the individuality of your part. nawwadda mean?
 
i personaly like editing to music thats been edited with before, this way it give me an idea what my edit could look like.
 
definitely, some songs are just played but if your just making an edit thats for NS or a sponsor me thing or whatever you please, it doesnt matter really unless your selling it. theres obviously a huge difference between movies and just shits and giggles so i think people need to stop hating on kids who used a song thats been used in a previous NS edit or something.
 
just get some sick underground stuff, Go search for bands on gayspace from FAr off countries, use old School 80s songs mixed with dance beats there are countless things to do you just gotta use you imagination.
