line made the original 'fun skis' and mike nick was the first guy... and I am pretty sure they made the first full sized twin tip... with a skogen sprang model... its on the line website

Maybe you should read my reply again, because I think everyone is just assuming they know and hitting reply right away. The Olin Mark IVs are the oldest, the K2 Poacher is older than the 1080 as well.

Maximumsushi's right on to things... technically the Mark IV was first even though that's way back in the day, but the K2 Poacher was the first modern twin-tip, before the Teneighty. Line was making skiboards at the time, but wouldn't make a full-length twin-tip ski for some time yet; that's my understanding of it.

the salomon ten-eighty, the line 1260 and the line ostness dragon all came out mid-season in 1998 as 1999 releases. the ten-eighty was first, but not by much.

NO! DEAR GOD! DO YOU HAVE EYES?

Just read either kamikaze or my posts and stop saying the 1080 was the first twin.

yep, the olin is an oldie for sure!!

ive also heard that 'goon skis' were twintipped and came out in the 1930's or something like that.

i got a history lesson from Plake one day

One ski everyone fails to mention as far as new twin tips goes, and I believe it was before the poacher (not overly sure though,) is the Rossignol- Ross E Knoll. They were out about a year before the teneighties. Vinnie has em in State of Mind and I had them back in the day.

I also remember reading or seeing in the old and long dead magazine 'Boards in Motion' about a twin supposedly released or planned on being released by a now dead snowboard company called Deeluxe. That is where i first actually heard of 'twintips.'

And like said the true original was the Olin one.

signatures are for pussies

I've heard of the Olin Mark IVs, but I'm confused, is Olin the brand name? What happenned to them then? and does anyone have a pic of them?
