Im probably going to be moving to oregon next year and id like to know where are chill places to live that are within a half hour of the mountains. I was looking at Bend but i dont know the scene out there at all.

Why wouldn't you live over near Hood from Brightwood/Welches all the way up so you could still be 40 miles from Portland or an hour from the Ocean so you could surf too? Or if you go to school, live in Gresham and go to Mt Hood CC or Portland State. Bend is a quiet town, but at least close to Bachelor.

^ she's got it right on. besides, if you live in welches area you can ski year-round at hood. if you live in bend you can only ski there in the winter

Yeah sure it is.....If Hood is a 3.5 hr drive from my house in WA, then how come it took 6 hrs to get to Bend? Including the police's scolding for speeding?

i hated oregon, anyways your best bet is up by hood, shit pollard live's with his parent's try to get a house next to his place.

i'm from southern oregon and i ski mt ashland and shasta. bachelor is definitely way sick and bend isn't too bad of a town(except nothing is within 3 hours of it) i was there this weekend and i wish i lived there! i'd say go for bend just cause bachelor is a big ass fun mountain.

go to eugene its full of punx and weirdos, but if you want a chill place to live in just go to Portland and drive to Hood on the weekend, the oregon coast is really really nice too.

Bend is spendy, live in portland and your 1-1/2 hours from hood for skiing, beach for surfing, and the gorge for windsurfing, or two hours to the desert.

bend is nice i live there but the town dies at around 10 um.... cocc is there if you're lookin to go to school. Who ever said that hood is year rounds makes a valid point so if you don't do any thing in the summer hood is good
