Orange Bowl = Terrible

I was completely disgusted by the game. Clearly FSU and PSU did not come to play tonight. I think that was by far the worst bowl game of the year. Both teams seemed unprepared and made high school football mistakes. PSU should be ashamed really. For being the #3 team and playing like that.

But congrats to the kicker Kelly. Third time's the charm. I guess I felt sorry for him because he's a freshman, and he didn't want that game to ruin his whole college football career. If he missed that, he wouldn't get laid for 4 years.

Oregon could have destroyed both of those teams tonight, neither deserved to play in the Orange Bowl, and it just shows even more that the Ducks got screwed.

well the ducks lost to oklahoma so you can't really argue for them.

the defenses just played out of their minds today. i would hardly say that the teams "didn't show up." great game in my opinion. a little slow (especially after watching osu last night), but a good game.

well penn state was one last second play from being undefeated while playing in the big ten, i'd say they deserve the ranking. fsu just had a great defensive game plan against them and looks to be a better team than their record suggests. just because your number 3 doesn't mean you have to blow out whoever you play.

the ducks didn't deserve a bcs bowl, and i am an oregon fan saying this. they didn't show up to play against oklahoma and would have needed a healthy clemens to have a chance

WE ARE... PENN STATE. and yes that was a bad game, but im just happy they won. And its nice to see notre dame go down

both teams could have put the other away about 10 times each. end of story. It has nothing to do with blowing the other out. When you are presented with opportunities, you take them. And that doesn't fall entirely on Kelly's shoulders. The PSU offense was really bad, even before the running back was hurt.

i think oregon deserved it more than notre dame. beating three teams with winning records, two of those being navy and byu, shouldn't put you in the bcs.

good night gentlemen, I have class tomorrow. Sucks that Pitt goes back so fucking early. But I will continue this tomorrow between classes.

And congrats to Penn State.

by the way does any team have a more annoying chant than florida state? jesus if i had to hear that damn tomahawk chop one more time i would've broken my tv. does their band know any other songs?

this game was horrible when compared to the sugar bowl last night. Both WVU and Georgia were fun to watch while the game tonight was painful to watch. Since i go to a ACC school usually i cheer for the conference, but FSU is one team i will never support.

losing nfl hopes as a freshman kicker who made more than 50% of his attempts during the season for the #3 team? I don't think so...

Penn state should be ashamed are you kidding me

They lost their best wide reciever earlier in the year

tony hunt goes out on the few few plays

the best linebacker in the country gets killed on the knee

they played with so much pride it was amazing

if anyone should be ashamed, its the kicker.

Penn state is one of the classiest steams you will ever see play. Their defense is so fundamentally sound and they play for football instead of all the gritz and glamour like teams of USC

and Florida state played one hell of a game and contained robinson so well

yeah whoever said it was a bad game is an absolute idiot and knows nothing about football. both teams played awesome defensive games and although it might not'v been fun to watch for some people, it was clear that both teams had prepared for the game and excecuted when they needed. both teams deserved the win

I'm sorry for the "3rd best team in the country" that wasn't that great. Both teams had way too many opportunities to win that game before and during overtime. I'm talking like really stupid shit. Like not throwing the ball away when you're out of the pocket and about to be sacked. And that play in the 4th quarter when FSU was running around like chickens with their heads cut off, and PSU completed that huge pass.

USC is riddled with injuries all over the team, and they still find a way to kick ass. They're offensive line is literally operating at 50%. PSU needs to step it up if they want to be #3.

as mentioned before, penn state was one play away from possibly going to the rose bowl this year. They lost to michigan on the last play. Image if USC didn't make that heroic last play against Notre Dame. You can;t just judge Penn State's team on a few lowsy possesions against Florida State and bad kicker. Other than the Michigan loss, there were not close games at all for Penn State in the regular season

Jibunit...they don't average more points a game than USC...USC averages 50 points a game, which is more than 35.

Orange Bowl was freaking amazing. I thought FSU was going to get taken care of, but they came out to play in a big way... Penn State had soem trouble moving the ball in crucial situations, leading to a great game. Screw any of you who think Penn State shouldn't have made the bowl, they went the entire season losing one game in a last second play.

i got little to no sleep lastnight because i stayed up to watch the game, im a psu fan, but honestly after that display of athletics, neither team deserved to win that game

never said they didn't deserve to be there. They just didn't play like they wanted to be there.

look at these stats. Clearly PSU should have put FSU in their place long before the 3rd OT:

=======================PSU=/=FSU=========

1st Downs: ............ 23 / 12

Total Yards: ......... 391 / 284

Passing: ............. 253 / 258

Rushing: ............. 138 / 26

Penalties: .......... 8-43 / 13-129

3rd Down Conversions: 8-21 / 3-17

4th Down Conversions: 0-0 / 0-1

Turnovers: ............. 2 / 1

Possession: ........ 34:16 / 25:44

When stats heavily favor one team like that and they only win the game after 3 OT's. Theres a problem.

espn reports:

"It turned out to be about missed opportunities, improbable twists, epic length -- and nearly unbearable suspense."

Robinson Completed a whopping 53% of his passes. But 256 yards passing is pretty damn good. I think we can contribute a lot of these yards to the talented receivers at his disposal such as Norwood and Kilmer, by the looks of completing just over half of his passes. Let's take a look at his rushing then. 17 rushes for 21 yards... thats 1.2 yards a rush. Doesn't look like he showcased much of his rushing abilities that game. Not exactly a stellar game for the Big 10 MVP. Considering he put up as good or better numbers against higher ranked teams such as Ohio State and Michigan.

Now I'm not just picking on Robinson. But I don't have time to go through more, seeing as how I have class in 15 minutes. But case in point, sloppy games by both teams. The receivers of both teams were the ones who played the best game. PSU should've beat the shit out of FSU, and FSU should've stepped up to the plate and sent PSU home in tears after capitalizing on errors.

its hard to blame robinson when it's ONLY his FIRST year running this offense. everyone forgets how big of a playmaker he was before this season. and how he lined up all over the field for joe paterno.

in my opinion neither team deserved to win that game and im a hardcore penn state fan. no doubt about it im happy they won but when you miss two field goals, fumble the snap inside the 5 yard line, and give up a momentum changing punt return, you dont deserve to win the game.

and florida state played a great defensive game to contain robinson. their speed and quickness out-handled the psu offensive line. it's sad that penn state knew that they were gonna throw the ball and still gave up over 250 yards passing. but then again they dont deserve the win for missing two field goals and an extra point.

you have to give psu and joe paterno credit when they lose their 1000 yard rusher in the first series and the heart and soul of their defense to fight for the win. it was a great hard nosed penn state victory.

obviously none of you know what the fuck you are talking about...

both defenses were so good and that caused the offenses to play bad games...

how do u say that was as terrible game, it was fucking triple overtime and one of the best games i've ever watched, maybe not the best performances by the kickers, but it was definitly a defensive battle along w/ feild position...

...so kevin kelley and that other fucker suck at kicking, but im in comfort knowing that they will never make it to the pros

robinson still doesn't play like a true quarterback. he came to penn state as a wide recieve then junior year he took very few snaps while zach mills was qb.

The reason that he completed very few of his passes and didn't run as much as he did usualy (900 all season about) was because they lost hunt. losing a guy that can almost always get up to 100 yards a game takes a huge factor out of your gameplan.

At first flordia state thought it was going to be pure passing so they decided to lay back and play zone and cover 2 defense utnil they realized that scott could run when they did that

Once they made their change, they realized that by trying to stop the run more with continuous blitzes, they stopped the run and focused more on beating up on robinson who constantly had 5-6 man rush giving him very few time to find open recievers. Also, there were some key dropped passes by the young freshman wide recievers that were not Robinson's fault.

I will agree and say it wasn;t robinson's best game, but some games just turn out to be the battle of will and guts when things don't go as planned. Who could have guessed that hunt would go out on the first few plays of the game.

When florida state has to focus on both Robinson and hunt, they woudl have had much more problems then protecting from play action passes and options

well first of all that's why usc is 1 and not 3. second of all usc is stacked with talent more than any other team in the country, losses don't hurt them as bad.

usc's offense is mos def the best that anyone has seen for a long long time. on sportscenter lee corso said that the only way for texas to win tonight is to hold them to just over thirty points. that just goes to show the kind of stuff that they are capable of doing on offense.

I think the defenses played damn good football. That's the kind of game you get when you have two of the top defense's in the nation. Penn state holding Florida State about 5 times when they started there drives at the 40 or 50 was amazing. FSU's defense was breaking through to get to Robinson and there was no time for him to pass. We were very close to covering the spread if it wouldn't have been for the fumble in the red zone with not much time left. As far as our kicker goes he's a freshman and needs to learn how to kick under pressure, same thing happen to him in the big house. Offense wins games, defense....and bad kickers win championships. Either way I'll take it, it's still a W on paper. You'll never see a game like that with two amazing coaches combining for more than 700 wins.

Wow good thing you came in here and contributed to this conversation with that. Are we suppose to give a shit at all? Oh yea great teams find a way to win even when they're having an off night.

i thought it was a funny game. i hate kickers though. being a kicker for my high school team taught me that it is the worst job ever. you get one chance. this kid was way lucky to get 3. if you fuck up, then you are hated. thats your only job...to kick. but then you get all the glory for winning. adam vinateri? what a deuche
