"Now, add a bunch of snowboarding's top pros dressed up in self-made team uniforms to that equation", TRANSWORLD SNOWBOARDING

Orage Masters is a smaller version of this comp.

Orage took its ideas from the team callenge and made there own comp. they even had a pillar box at Team Challenge theres a picture here

http://www.transworldsnowboarding.com/snow/features/article/0,13009,1052915,00.html

thats an article on the comp.

Is it a good or a bad thing that Orage is using snowboarding ideas?

good, we wouldn't be where we are today with out snowboarding, they have really helped our sport. and we can take ideas from them to help our sport grow. and it was a sick idea

at least the riders in the team challenge dress up. skiers 'outfits' were disappointing at best. put some effort into it

agreed... line's outfit was pretty dissapointing.... so were rossi and salamon....

keep your filthy mits off me!

like playing leapfrog with a rhino #>#

listen to yourselves, you're more concerned with the "outfits" than the skiing

haha

and yeh I guess snowboarding does kinda influence skiing just a little maybe

...yet the "shotski" does not involve a snowboard, it involves a SKI!! It like those snowboarders are bowing down to the greatness of our sport.

That's a nice article, Transworld usually does the full story in mid-winter with tons of cool photos. The costumes are usually awesome, I was expected the same level at the Orage Masters and was really disappointed. The two competitions are in some ways similar, such as the team format and jam session special park session, but there are big differences too. Everything is bigger at the team challenge, they usually have a big jump and a pipe. There are a ton more teams, and they don't compete in the heated jam session format, its more of an overall event impression. The whole thing lasts a couple days.

The Transworld Invitational started out as a photo-op for rounding out video parts in late season as hills started to close, but advent of spring-time backcountry booter popularity, big names with video parts stopped showing up to the event and it turned more so into an mostly am team challenge with some big guns showing up as well.

Some people are trying to snowboard here!

Oh I get it. Sorry to ruin your day.

ya, snowboarding has helped us progress....good

"Holy shit, did you see that tweaked out pencil! That was insane, that guy really knows how to rip."

just think about those quiksilver commericals with danny kasserole and todd richards

everything will be all better

i think its dope, but fuck having the top 6 ski teams only... make your own fucking teams and have like it be week long and be able to have like 20 or 30 teams... they can be all stars, ams, or teams, whatever... that would be doper because i have a feeling that if the pro teams were actually pushed becaus there was a high presence of ams that the level of competiton would be much higher...

^ that is an amazing idea, someone should like write to a magazine or a company or something and make that happen.

No, emphasis on the "open"

my comment was in regards to little_freerider. but an open concept wouldnt be too bad either, minus the fact that it would completely contradict the 'invitational' aspect of the masters, as well as taking away the 'masters' side of things.

ye but the orage's upright box was way more intense then what they had. Theres was wider, not as much as an angle, and not as high either.

no dude... i am not talking about open like the US Open... i am saying let people in that arent superstars... like you could put a limit on the teams by, you have to have one decent sponsor sponosor your team... or something that will make it so that there is decent am talent too... i would bet money that the am teams would charge A LOT harder than the pro teams... i mean its kinda gay when k2 just comes out and says they didnt like the setup and so they just goofed off... their spot could of gone to an AM crew/team who could of killed it... wickes brought up a good point... you could do a pro/am team...mixing pros with ams.... you could also do resort battles like the best from mammoth, aspen, silver star, PC, stratton, mt snow...etc i think the masters is dope, but the poosibilities are endless, i say NS hosts an open masters like that

CheeseCake - Coming 2005

^ I really like that best of the resorts idea, NS should hold like a festival or something like that, one in the east coast and one in the west coast, I'm sure it would be a big success.

-Matt Hollman

the only problem with that is NS is like based in Ontario, i think, atleast in the east, and most big west pros wont go to the east for that...

CheeseCake - Coming 2005

yes battle of the resorts....bristol has me, ahmet, will wesson, erik olson, and tim russel
