Opus vs bentchetler

I would think the Opus just because the ski is a little more versatile due to the skinnier under foot, but they are both pretty good overall skis.

op doesn't know something. aks ns. gets mad at ns for not knowing the same thing. what a dick.

but to answer your question, dickhole, opus is probably slightly more versatile than bentchetler, but they're going to be very similar. doesn't really matter which you pick, you'll be happy with either

shut the fuck up. he wasn't being a dick at all and you sound like a fucking prick. to op, I would go with the opus because it will be more versatile as well as it will be a more fun, playful ski.

You sir, are a complete and utter prick. To OP, Please go with the Opus. You will be happier on them. They are a super fun ski! But if you are open to ideas, take a look at the Surface Lab 001. I'm 6'4 185lb and was in between the opus and lab. I went with the lab because of my size (opus is a bit soft) and I was curious about the deep dish rocker. Good luck!

i would say go for the bentchetler for open faces since it has a larger turn radius. but the opus is a more versatile ski.

haha and op isn't? what kind of person asks a question about something he doesn't know then gets mad at other people for not knowing the same thing? i'll tell you: a prick.

he wasn't even saying it in a negative. You're a fucking asshole, get the hell off of this site and then go fuck yourself.

at the very least it was exceptionally whiny

you're going to need to get some thicker skin to survive in this world if something as innocent as this is getting you so upset, kiddo.

1. you don't seem very smart. you start the post referring to me in the third person, then switch to second half-way through. stick to one tense, it will help make your writing slightly less incoherent.

2. i'm perfectly ready to take crap, it's this other kid who seems to have his panties in a knot because i called his friend OP a dick

You need to learn how to interpret better. You don't seem smart yourself. "You" was referring to people in general. I was talking about you in third person to BE..

you're telling me to get thicker skin when you're the one freaking out over op bumping his thread for answers? it wasn't being whiny, you're just being an asshole.

you're being a dick to to op for no reason other than bumping his thread and asking for answers. it's wasn't being whiny, it was asking a simple question. it was your response that was whiny, admit you're wrong and move on. there was no reason for you to post a snide reply to his question so if you can't admit to being wrong and learn to treat fellow skiers with more respect then you should get the fuck of of this site.

I've spent time on both...They're a lot a like but between the two the differences are

The bentchetler is damper, heavier, slower in the air but still has good swing weight, better for going fast, better for crud and heavier powder.

The opus is lighter and more playful, spins faster, and is quicker at slower speeds, but they're less stable.

really? nothing about "come on, why doesn't anybody answer? 22 guys saw this!" sounds whiny to you? shit, i couldn't come up with a whinier bump if i tried.

hahaha how the fuck do you figure that my response was whiny? maybe you just don't know what the verb "to whine" means?

i'm more than happy to admit when i'm wrong, problem is, i'm not wrong here.

just call it quits man, you're just digging yourself into a hole here. Did it really bother you that much that he wanted opinions on which very expensive ski he should buy? Sure it he could have worded it differently but does it really matter that much? you jumped on this guys dick for no reason and now you're just trying to play it off like you're not a total piece of shit. it wasn't a big deal that he asked for help a second time and even if it was whiny, who gives a shit? calm the fuck down and don't get so worked up over a fellow skier asking for advice.

this is rich. i have answers to every point you raise and you have answers to mine and yet you are the one telling me to quit because i'm just digging myself into a deeper hole? man, ns is funny tonight.

but to, once again, answer the points you raise. no, it really didn't bother me that much. hence the reason i called him a dick, moved on, and answered his question. unlike you who went on a multiple post rant about how i should fuck myself and leave ns forever.

i jumped on his dick? nah. you're the one who jumped on his dick awfully quickly to defend him. it doesn't sound like you really understand it means to "jump on someone's dick"

i'm not playing off not being a piece of shit at all? when did i do that? i completely stand by what i did/said.

again, you lost your cool a lot more than i did. see the rants at me above for an example of what i mean.

so to get this straight, you're in the right because you were a dick to someone who asked a question about which skis they should buy and I'm in the wrong because I defended him pointed out that you were actually the one who was being whiny? that makes sense to you? because if so you've got to be pretty fucking stupid.

when did i say i was in the right or you were in the wrong? i think one thing, you think another; there is no right or wrong here. i think it's great you're sticking up for op, though. again, when was i at all whiny? are you sure you know what that means? if you want i'll look it up for you.

your first post, when you were getting but hurt about him posting twice. That seemed pretty damn whiny to me.

what makes you think i am stupid? did you read my last post?

and seriously, man, what is with you and talking about me in the third person? you must be some kind of coward if you don't even have the balls to confront someone face-to-face on the internet. stop with the passive-aggressive shit, you'll feel better. and let me save you the time and say that, i know, now you're going to try and hurt my feelings by saying i'm too stupid to talk to directly, or something in that vein

really? again, are you sure you know what "whiny" means? cause i don't see how you could understand what it means to whine and think i was being whiny but op wasn't

You are an idiot!! I was talking ABOUT you. Not TO you!! Now I am talking to you (hence the first person). Confront face-to-face on the internet? That makes a ton of sense. And I'll feel better? I don't feel bad, so i don't need to feel better. I'm not mad, I'm not upset. I don't let this internet argument crap bring me down, and you're a little b*tch if you do.

funny that you're calling me an idiot considering what follows. i am aware you were talking about me and not to me, hence the second paragraph where i called you out on that. am i not allowed to confront you about the things you say about me if they aren't directed to me? i didn't know that was a rule on the internet now. i was hoping you would understand what i meant by face-to-face and not take it so literally, but i guess i was asking too much of your intelligence there.

at least we can both agree that a person would have to be a little bitch to let "internet argument crap" bring them down.

You guys are ruining this thread. Take your argument to NSG or PMs. To the OP: they are quite similar skis, albeit with a few noticeable differences. The opus is softer, has a less distinct taper, has a shorter, more dramatic sidecut, and has a full sidewall. The sidewall won't have a major effect on the way it skis, but the other attributes will make it quicker and more agile at slow speeds, better in the trees, and slightly more playful, although they will also be a bit less stable at speed and in chop. The bent chetler, in turn, is stiffer, with more of a sharknose, a longer radius, and has a step-down sidewall. These will make them a little bit more stable at speed and through crud, but with a slight loss in the agility/playfulness department. The net chetler gets the edge in deep powder with a wider footprint and bigger rocker, while the opus gets the edge on groomers with a tighter radius and narrower footprint and full sidewall. All in all, these differences may seem major, but in a real world enviroent they will be very subtle. Both will float well, do reasonably well in chop, carve well for a fat ski, ski trees well, and spin well. The guys who created them ski together, hitting all the same lines and throwing the same types of tricks with the same style and approach. With skis this similar, I'd probably pick the ones you can get a better deal on, but assuming you can afford either, this post should help.

Cheers,

Isak.

HAHA OMFLIPPENFRAGGAL god! this was probably the funniest thing i have ever read. you are all idiots for trying to talk your way out of every comeback. its like kids fighting. "well youre the dumby." "no youre the dumbyer." haha i fucking love you guys.

AAAAAAnyways. The opus is probably the greatest ski i have ever ridden. along side of the armada jj, it has the perfect amount of pop to really get into a playful carve. i have heard people complain about it being to flimsy, but i have had no problem what so ever. i drop cliffs a lot and i ride the PNW. (super heavy shit if you didnt know) and thats saying something. and if you are really concerned about the stiffness, the 2013 has just 1 more layer of wood that strengthened it a little more, but trust me it is definitely still playful.

the bentchetlers are going to be less stiff, and a looooott more surfy, meaning they are only fun when you take looooong radius turns. although i have heard great things about them in trees too.

both skis are pretty versatile, the opus being a little more, and both skis are going to be great in powder.

think of this.

If you ride a pow ski in the conditions that a pow ski is meant for, you are going to have fun no matter what. period. dont listen to those guys who are constantly like "oh well this ski is to blank, and this ski is like a noodle." every ski is fun, just in different ways. you will be happy no matter what. if you get a ski that does what you like best, it will make you a lazy skier. you should try and get a ski that will challenge you and make you work on your weeknesses. like if you are noodled legged, then get the jj (known for squirlyness) and try and teach yourself to keep solid tied legs. trust me too. all skis have something that is "bad" about them. but once you teach yourself to get through the bads, then you will learn just how great the ski actually is. ive tried all skis (i work at a ski shop)anyways, please tell me if this helped. i use this short speech for potential buyers of equipment and want to know if it helped at all.

anyways best of wishes and happy shopping/holidays. fuck it MERRY FUCKING CHRISTMAS YOU JEWISH HOES!

Get the opus. They are more versatile and more playful. On big mountain or open faces they wont be as stable but and they dont have as big of a turning radius but dont worry about the turning radius, its not a big deal you lay off a little and make bigger turns.
