Hi all,

Just a couple of simple questions...

I'm 5'4 and weigh about 65 kilos (143 pounds)...

I want a K2 Fujative (the ones with woodprint, so last years)

1: What length should I go for?

2: What binding position should be best?

I was recommended 1.59 because my experience in freeski is zero... I have skied a little bit and only do snowboarding. I want to try freeski...

I know core center is best, but how far can you 'backwards' without completely losing the freestyle-abilities and have reasonable carving possibilities?

Thx for your help...

get 169, you will regret going any shorter

mount about 2cm forward of core centre..heaps of fun with the flex of those skis

If your new to skiing, I'd say mount a Recommended as it will help you learning, secondly, as far as Binding, Look PXs are probably a good bet for bindings that can dip to beginner DINs then last and follow you up. Salomon Z series may work, though are less preferred on this site

Oke, 2 replys two different opinions... ;P

Personally, I think going shorter is better for learning, but won't it affect the flex? (shorter being stiffer?) I mean the binding covers more of the ski at the 1.59 than at the 1.69...? I really am not going to jump big or do halfpipes at this stage... I just want to have fun on the piste and occasionally in the park. I don't have to carve at high speed also...

BTW, the bindings that are included are marker Free 11.0's...

Anyway... thx for your opinions.

169. 10cm isnt that much bigger but it feels so much better. just mount at core centre and you'll be set. I assure u, you will regret going 159

159 and recomended, your bindings will only need to go up to a din of 10 and set them up to 4 or 5.

mount em closer to true center or even true center..it will be a lil harder at first but so much more fun once you get used to it

Most def 169. As you get better, your gonna have to just go and get 169s 159 is just way too short for even learning.

I noticed a lot of people who are in their prime (athletically/skill) pick up skiing pretty quick to some extent if you get some help from friends, and you definetely want 169.

I'd mount a couple cm back from center, and as for DIN personally I'd go a bit higher then 4-5, I notice a lot when my DIN were any lower then 6-7 my skies fell off at the dumbest times, i think I hurt myself more cause they fell off at those times then i would've if they were on.

Any bindings should be good, but Look PX are good, just find a good deal on them

uhmmmm... well in regards to being in my prime... I'm 34 now... and turning 35 this year... but hey... ofcourse I'm still fit!!! ;P

I just want to try something new... and freeski (easy level ofcourse) seem to me like great fun!

There is some dumb knowledge in here. K2 measures their skis with the effective edge i.e what's actually on the snow. So, a 169 Fujative is more like a 172 or 173 in other companies skis. If you're only 5'4, 169 could be a lot to handle. Go 159 and mount reccomended, especially if you haven't skied alot. Go for a 10-din binding, and start it off around a 4 as you're probably a type I or II skier at the moment.

Can we cut the shit with telling people to buy too long of skis?
