I am thinking of skipping school for 2 days in February to go up to Lutsen with my uncle and cousins. so i am turning to NS to give me some honest opinions on Lutsen.. is lutsen worth it or should i look somewhere in Michigan? I am the one planing and arranging the trip so i have control on where we go.

i dont care about the park situation much, im wondering if Lutsen's tree runs(for me) and groomers for the cousins are any good?

thanks allot, Justin

I really like it, and would recommend it. But, yeah, the "back country runs" aren't anything special. It's fun though.

I'm going up there this weekend, so I'll report back after that. I expect it's pretty poor though. Only a small area of Mystery is open right now, and making snow for the park seem like a very low priority for them.

i dk anything about lutsen but mount bohemia in michigan has awsome tree runs but there is pretty much no groomed runs

yeah bohemia is my first choice, but my uncle and cousins could not handle no grooming....

my brother and i would be in midwest heaven.....

mnjib is bill hickey reigning from hyland. has many deep conection with hoigards and many other ski industries.

WHITEmapTAPE formally know as mpaul something then reigns from the spirit mountain region. he rides very very often.

to the thread leader lutsen is a great place to just go and ski long runs. they have a nice wide variety or runs. nothing too steep or amazing for terrain but probably the best in mn for length and such. i thought it was fun and stuff. this was the first place i met tony when he got something thrown out of the gondola and had to ski through a creek to get it. and he put a burger king tray in his shirt and told me to punch him so i punched him in the shoulder. good times. theres also a decent hostel close there that was stayed that was pretty fun.

I was up there last weekend when they 24" of snow. Best snow I've ever seen up there, really, really fun!

The park is a SERIOUS joke though. Don't even bother trying it. Mystery mountain has the vertical drop of a parking lot, so you can't get any speed to hit any of the 4 or 5 features they have. Plus the lift is long and slow.

Lutsen is a lot of fun though for just skiing some long runs for a change.

not going to lie thats kind of creepy man. and i am more affiliated with rossignol then Hoigaards.

my apologies. and bill you may know me a little better than you think. you know like a couple years ago when you were the ninthward rep and you used to talk on aim to a one skiobsessor. yeah that was me. i have an edit of you skiing on my computer that you sent to me.
