State your opinions on camelbaks........do you have one, would you like one? do you think they affect performance?....state anything

personally i have one and don't find my self using it all that much but sometimes it does come in handy and i dont think it hurts performance at all.......

state your opinion

I have one. I rarely use the the actual bladder, but it's great when you need. The main thing is that it's just the best backpack I've ever had, and I love it. The pack itself is just quality.

I'd use one if I was planning on skiing out west for long periods of time, but living here in the east they are pretty much pointless when the lodge is at the bottom of a 2min run down the hill.

ya i just fill mine out east because alot of the time i get sick of continuous stopping so i just fill it so i can keep going.

anyone do tricks and rails with there CamelBak.....i havn't really tried that but i would love opinions on that

i have used one. found i didnt use it much.

but i have a brand new nalgene backpack with a hydration bladder i would sell.

if you can/want to take breaks, they're unnecessary. but, if you want to straight charge it all day and not stop for anything, they're invaluable.

Only time i've skid with them is out west cause of the altitude/ long distance to the lodge

Other than that I never ride with one. I like the freedom of not having one

I have two I use for biking, but I'd never take them skiing. That's what my Heli Pro is for. Camelbak doesn't make anything that really appeals to me for backcountry skiing (or that's nearly large enough), and if I'm going to be on top of a 10,000' peak in 40mph winds when it's 10 degrees out I want my water inside my pack, not in a little rubber hose. But for mountain biking they kick ass!

i have onejust get a little one that doesnt have 3 billion pockets and you can wear it under your jacket thats what i do

What about the Camelbak Hellion? this is the pack I use and I absolutely love it. It is similar size to the dakine Heli, has shovel pocket, probe pockets, goggle pocket with fleece liner, quick release holders for ice axe and shovel handle etc. Diagonal ski carry...horizontal and vertical board carry. And it has like 3 liter bladder with insulated sleeve. And the bladder is held so close to my back that it really doesn't affect my center of gravity at all. I never used to like riding with a pack, but once I started I really like it now. It is great for BC or mountains that don't have running water. I drink tons of water and I feel like I don't get fatigued nearly as quickly and I don't immediately crash after getting off the hill after a hard day riding. Big plus, I actually have something to quench my thirst when I have mad cottonmouth. Nothing sucks like skiing with cottonmouth.

i use a camelBak for biking, it can carry a jacket and 3L of water

in winter i just put the bladder in my dakine

i havent tried the winter series of Camelbak

I heard there good though

O and if you are worried about the tube freezing just gently blow the water back into the reservoir.

I've got a bladder in my Helipro. I love it. I bought one of the insulating tubes as well (cost like 7 dollars) and that works ok. I still blow the water back down the tube when I'm finished. If you are skiing lots of vertical and/or anything with some hiking, its amazing. I don't know why I didn't buy one years ago. If you are going to get a camelback brand one for skiing, make sure you get one that can double as a pack. You might as well be able to store stuff in it and throw your skis on it.

unless i was skiin lines, where you pretty much need a pack anyway, they are retarded. i for one rarely get thirsty or hungry durring the day. if you have 1 and your skiing groomers, im sorry, thats RETARDED. packs are for the BC, and thats it.

as for biking, i used to think they were the nicest thing since sliced bread, and still use them sometimes for DH (protection and you cant get a waterbottle inside a full face, but i hate riding with them now, and much prefer water bottles.

oh, and check target and walmart. seriously, they have some REALLY nice ones for 20-50 bucks. good valves, bladders, well laid out pockets ans shit. just as nice as any camelback, at a much better price. the current one i have even has full hose insulation, a valve positioner, and the handle on the bladder.

i have a tiny one that i wear under my jacket on those recovering-from-hangover days (only like 1 liter), and then a large one obviously for my BC ski-carrying pack, they're a must have if you're hiking at all, especially for longer periods.

i dont have a camelbak brand one,but its a nalgene/REI type thing.believe it or not,its never frozen up on me no matter what temperature.i always wear it on the outside, and it never rubs or pulls in ways that would affect you skiing.i mostly use it for biking, but its pretty good for skiing.plus they can hold a bunch of small crap like tools

As I said before I have a camelbak Hellion which has everything a skier would ever need for BC, slackcountry, resort, gate acces anything. But for those of you that are Dakine faithfuls I believe all the Heli packs come with a hydration option just for your information. So if you love the Dakine packs but still want a "camelbak" that is a great option.

get a heli pro!! I have one and love it just put a bladder in it and your set its got just the right amount of space plus it wont slow you down at all

I use em for biking which I dig cuz I've gotten used to it so it doesn't hinder my riding and I can stash plenty of tools and water and a lil food. I also use it for partyin sometimes, cuz drinkin out of a camelbak rules... try it. if your 21 of course!
