Opinions on Blading

Lately I've been wanting to try aggressive inline skating as a sport to do in the off season, and I wanted to know what you guys think of the sport? It's not as popular as it used to be, but I think it looks like a ton of fun and it looks in some ways similar to skiing. So what do you guys think? Cool or nah?

I started last summer. I absolutely suck at it but it's so so much fun. You should definitely try it if you can!! Who cares if it's cool or not? Just fucking send it.

don't pick hobbies based on how cool other people think they are.

but if you have to, get a scooter obviously. nothing has ever been cooler.

What's the hardest part about freestyle rollerblading?

Telling your parents you're gay.

Kidding, kidding. I actually think it is pretty cool, don't do it myself. Though it seems to make the most sense to do if you ski instead of skateboarding.

Does not have to be cool or not, you do it because you like it and it's fun.

I've never done it, but i'm considering getting into it this summer because a lot of people say it's fun, and it seems like a good way to pass time. Can anyone recommend me on what I should buy?

I tried it once, but every time I afterbanged, I slipped out and landed on my back. Do not recomend.

Who cares. it's fun. And gay marriage is legal now. So get a pair and get a pair

Your Blade Lyfe edit from last summer gets me so hyped haha I wanna get better at it this summer!

Do it! I got into blading a couple summers ago and I have to say it's way harder than it looks. But I found myself getting pretty involved in the whole community and its full of rad people. Check out some of dima Makrushins edits from life steeze media. Gets me stoked every time.

I like the blading videos that Life Steeze Media puts out. Those are real sick.

Only thing I know about blading though

Didn't they get like 200/300 upvotes on a video last summer and get like VOTD on here? Or maybe I'm thinking of something else. Kind of funny on a ski website you get a blading edit that gets votd hahaha.

While on the topic, who here actually blades that could recommend a decent pair of blades? Used to play roller hockey so I can skate really well, forward and backwards, just cant do any tricks.

I've been skating for 8 years. Xsjados have always been my favorite; they're flexible but still responsive. Remz take second place but they're a little heavy and USD are also always great.

Going back to original post; I've been skating for super long. Most skateparks have skateboarders that are douche bags about rollerblading for no reason. That's why I started working out hahah. I don't get hated on anywhere near as much. But I've also spent years at the same park and everyone there is homies whether your skate, blade, scooter or bike. They're all about having fun and pushing yourself.

Problem is when you're starting out it won't make too much of a difference. If you're coming from ski boots, everything is going to feel way too flexy and unsupportive. If you're in the US and look on rollerwarehouse and aggressivemall, the have plenty of stuff. How much you are willing to spend is a better place to start. Bear in mind unless you have people to skate with, skating by yourself gets old kind of fast.

Hockey roller blades and hockey skates in general on pretty floppy. I won't have an issue at all. Whats a decent pair go for? Don't want to spend over $100 but looked around on rollerwarehouse and was finding $300 pairs

Oh I missed the part about where you can apparently skate? That changes things, it's liek if you can't actually ski and can only do tricks. It's way better if you can actually skate and do tricks.

Buy a skateboard. What the fuck is wrong with you?

roflol

I used to blade a lot, I was pretty good even but I also skateboarded a little bit. Slowly I started boarding more and blading less, grinding on a skateboard just feels good. I dont do eith much anymore but zip zing for transportation. /Skateboarding is way for convenient and fun for me

Pretty sure your being sarcastic? I'm just saying I'm not a huge newb. I can basically ski runs but for like blades. I just can't do any tricks in the park, or street park. I was just seeing if that would help for recommendations man. Sorry if it sounded cocky or whatever

Thanks.

Blading is fucking gay, but if you spend your entire life trying to do things or not doing things out of it being cool or not cool then you're gonna miss out on some pretty fun shit. Just do you and don't worry about what anyone thinks. Life's too short to try and be cool or whatever.

Set up a rail in a back ally where no one can see you. Practice grinding that shit all summer and fucking rip the park this next season. Or grow a pair and rip all the rails on your campus

yeah, i was gonna say xsjados like the other guy, i rock valos and i have a good time.

heres my 2 cents. from my experience: rollerblading is dope, hella fun and if you're steezy, gets love from BMX and Skaters. pick it up if you're trying to get your rail game 3hunna.

but honestly fuck blades. skateboarding is the tits, look into that
