I have a few skis in mind but open to other suggestions.

08 seths

hellbents

steeze

thugs

francis bacons

im 5'11 145 pounds and been riding scratchs since last season im just tired of sinking when i decide to go bc and since i plan on heading to revelstoke sometime in feb/march i need some feedback on some skis. my big thing is i dont know if I would like a soft ski and the demos at the mtn arent until march.

Yeah, I'd add the EP and cut everything from the list thats under 110 at the waist if you've skiing Revy. To add to that, you lucky lucky bastard.

You should also look into some other small companies making huge skis. I'm sure many people will toss some up, but Moment Melee's might be your ticket, if you can afford them and like a rare ski.

those are all really different kinds of skis, give us an idea of what u want. Something to jib around with in pow, something to charge on, or somehting real easy to turn in trees, etc...

im pretty much the same size as you and i got bacons and i love them, they rip everywhere especially in pow. i havent tried any of the other skis but i would recomend bacons

i have seth btw and they kill it everywhere, the 189s are much easier to throw around than i thought they would be. And its not a stiff ski by any means, real soft tip i like the flex of the ski tho

I'd get the steezes if your not sure about a soft ski. The width shouldn't scare you, from what I hear from a friend who has them, they work good on the groomers and slay in the pow. If you are going to revelstoke they should be perfect for you. You don't really need a rockered ski for the light snow they get there.

lets see i dont like charging down chutes but i do like my fair share of drops. i like cruising in trees but nothing that tight i would see myself having troubles with 189s say. thinking about a soft ski i dont think i would like the bacons but the 08 seths are appealing they have a mini rocker going on? correct me if im wrong

The mini rocker is hardly noticable. If they didn't advertise it, i'd say that the seths just have little camber.

dude if u want a really good ski for backcountry u want something that is well rounded and no just for rippin wide open bowls u want something that will do everyhitng and really also charge on steep stuff.

I think you'd have fun on rockered skis, as long as you have a backup pair for when its kinda cruddy. Go with something wide, ARG, EP Pro or Hellbent could do nicely. Do not be afraid of width.

dude width is not alawys good espically in bakcountry skis if you are touring and finding good spots u want something that had width but also can turn on a dime through a tight coliour and if ur in search of wide open bowls and such get hell bents or ep pros or some other ski that is just really good for really deep stuff

True, but he wants a mini-golf ski for powder. If I had the money for a

dedicated AT setup instead of my fats with Trekkers and shitty skins,

I'd go for an Icelantic Shaman with Marker Dukes.

ok i like to giver down open bowls wide turns and sender off drifts, cruising through trees and >25ft drops n pillows. if that helps in any way

well if he wants that go and wide as u want he just needs to know that there not goin to charge huge steep line but wateva saying that i would get hellbents or ep's

Moment Ruby or Melee (if you can get some)

K2 Hellbents (Heavenstraights are just as good!!!!)

Line EP Pros

the 186 EHP from 4frnt. It has no camber so when yuor in the deep stuff its rockered, but you can still ride it on groomed runs, unlike the arg or any other ski like that

First of all, every one of those skis is soft, or medium-soft except the Steeze, and even that is a medium flex. After that, the next stiffest would be the Seth, then the Thugs. Let me start by saying out of all those skis the Seths and Steezes are the most versitile, and if I were to take any of them for a one ski quiver it would be the Steeze. And I have Steezes, Seths, Thugs and ARGs all in my quiver.

The Steeze skis groomers almost as well as the Seth does, and does pretty much everything else better, except maybe park, but I've seen a couple people in the park with their Steezes as well. This is why it's probably the ski of the year for the West, at least in my opinion. The Thug is also a wicked ski, but it's not great on the groomers, it doesn't want to carve unless you are doing Mach 3. It's huge turning radius loves big huge turns in the bowls though and they are remarkably stable at speed for a softish ski. The 181 would be pretty good to throw around in the trees as well.

As for EP Pros and Hellbents, I personally wouldn't go for them unless you had a 2nd pair of skis, cause while they are ok on the groomers, they are slow on the flats, unstable at speed, and you basically end up working harder than you need to with a regularly cambered ski unless you are in the deep stuff. As for ARGs, you definitely need a 2nd and possibly 3rd pair of skis if you want those.

Hope that helps.

im in between the steeze and seths right now..

how would u compare the steeze to last years scratch fs wrs, its what im rockin now. besides the obvious width diffrence. cause having rode those for a year there an awesome ski and would expect kinda the same thing from the steeze in powda instead of park.

can't beleive no one mentioned the 4frnt vct i have them and love them to death there my everyday skis

not raging stiff but not a floppy noodle either right in the middle with soft tip and tails but stiffens up really quickly towards the midle

but between the seth and the steeze id go steeze just because a little extra width never hurt anyone and i find the solamon skis are indestructable and probly the most durabe top sheet ever made where as k2 have some of the shittiest top sheets so i think the steezes will last longer too

my 2 cents

o yea since the steezes are made by salomon.....

seths will have a better crud and groomer performance

^ thats why im debating between the seths or steezes. just not too sure but leaning towards the steeze having rode on a rossi ski since last season. anyone have an idea of the weight of those 2?

well the cut out the rest of everything and narrow it down to the hellbents and the ep pro's. the hellbents are gonna be a real nice ski and somewhat stiffer than the ep pros but still soft and buttery. they will also be a bit better for chopped up pow days, where are the ep pro's would not necessarily be a ski for anything else besides 10 inches and more. But they are an amazing ski still for the butterness of the deep pow. like effortless ollies in out and out of the deepest shit u can think of.
