Operation Reconize Stevens Pass

we should figure out a way to get Stevens (or other washington Mt's) on the park updates for the winter. Any ideas???

go there once they get there park up and take pictures of all the features/ then send them to newschoolers site builders/ and they will probably put it up

that sounds like the type of press that matt would want to promote stevens, and then he also might have them get started earlier on making a better park, so email matt gormley and tell him about it: mgormley@stevenspass.com, worth a try, that would be stevens anyway, and im sure there's people at snoqualmie that would be willing, ask around, email some people, look at their site.

stevens pass eh? not much to recognize there, but it would be worth a try, but id be very pessimistic. after all, on their "park page" on their website, they never updated it... ever... And an update isn't saying :

"We are currently gathering photos and descriptions of features that you may find in the Stevens Pass Terrain Park. As soon as we get some together, we will post and will continue to update as we build new features."

and of course they never posted a damn thing or updated it, after having that blerb for over 5 months... and the photos that they do have are from 2½+ years ago. But dont listen to me, i just find stevens pass ridiculously mediocre.

I hate it, cause Stevens Pass seriously has the best terrain and natural features for the best park in the state, but they somehow refuse to do anything about it, and make stupid shit early season that grows into larger and worse shit later in the season. Take the cock ride for example...

But, actually I have to give them some props for the pro line this year, they actually did get thier shit together on that (mostly). Still, why spend all your time on huge ass jumps that 10% of the kids take when theres like 90% of your park thats undermaintained and poorly planned? Uhg, it almost makes me want to move to sno-compton.

oh the cock ride... 15ft tall cock ride on 3ft tall nipple of snow... couldve been nicely set up. wouldve been fun.

but if you rode stevens, say, 4-5 days a week, you realized just how little they did with their park. Ill agree with ya Rowen that the pro jumps were decent, but they were never consistent, and could've always been better (140" base?).

and dont get me started on the 4ft of snow burrying half of the rails at the base for almost 4 weeks. gah

Yeah, I was thinking about getting a pass to snoqualmie too just because their rail/box setups are way more diverse (and not to mention better in general). Also, apparently snoqualmie knows how to actually set up their features...whereas stevens has yet to learn how to set up some of theirs.

^sometimes snoqualmie does, sometimes they dont. there were some consistency issues there as well... but a free pass there doesnt hurt.

but stevens has this thing about excuses and hating. some true colors popped out of that place

i guess utah is fresh if your a moron, or mormon. SL is seriously hella stinky but im still hella dwn with it.

Yeah, snoqualmie does have a better park, overall thats true. But I just dont enjoy skiing there when I go. Its always short runs, lots of people and terrible conditions. I taught there a few years ago, and we did have some powder days, but every single time I got a lunch break to ski I would think; "Man, I wish I was at Stevens, its probably so much better up there..."

So why did I choose Stevens? Because conditions are usually better than down south. More snowfall = more and better features (if the park crew only DID something with it). More people but also more terrain. Less people in the park, definently. More BC areas (sure alpental is good, but Stevens has like 3 different ridges you can hike and ski, and less people use them). On the whole, snoqualmie also lacks the diverse terrain. Take central. Its a huge ridge with a steep slope. Then its flat. Its really not a great area for a park, because there are no natural rollers or knobs to make kickers and hips on. It all has to be constructed. Plus, lose your speed near the bottom and you are seriously fucked for the rest of the park. West has the constant slope, but again, all that stuff must be built there, there are no natural contours for jumps.

Plus, Stevens pass has trees. Hooray for trees when its a whiteout!

So yeah, Stevens Pass might have a sucky park and derelict park crews, but on the whole its just a better place to ski. Besides, I dont want to ride park all day, and when I want some different terrain, what does Snoqualmie have for that in comparison to what Stevens Pass can provide?

^ yes there are. haha member near tye bowl when you AJ & I chilled that was sick. You're going to have to show me all the spots in PC this coming winter.

Haha, theres a definite stoner spot between Rollercoaster and Skid Row under some cliffs. Its got tons of tags on the rocks around it, and there's always a few snowboarders smoking there.
