Operating system for RED camera?

yea so my parents bought me a mac pro with a 2 terrabyte external harddrive, i also have iMovie HD. Is there any other programs or graphics card I may need to get the best quality out of my red camera?
 
i have a feeling you are lying. the words red camera and imoviehd in a sentence throw up some serious red flags.
 
You might want a high performance vid editing software with a camera like that, for example Final cut pro
 
Is there such a thing as Final Cut Pro HD? i mean i dont know why i would go for 'final cut' when i already have imovie HD

You would need like adobe premier cuz thats what professionals and guys in Hollywood use. Its going to set you back $800 just for the program. If you get it I recommend you take classes or go on on-line adobe premier tutorials to get the full benefit of knowing what to do with all the things in it.

Im sencing some sarcasm? HA like honestly windows movie maker i think i know i need better than that. its not even HD. Also i think my videos are going to be a little to good for youtube anyways. dumbass

with a camera that good you need to use some way more powerful software, like paint...
 
what a dumbass. If you dont'w know what FCP is, and you didn't know that FCP can edit basically anything as long as your computer can handle it, it has so many settings, and you can make your own settings for importing footage and your timeline. You say you have a RED camera, one of the most progressive HD cameras on the market, and you don't know what FCP is. I find this hard to believe, either way I'd want an HVX over a RED any day.
 
We have HVXs and would much rather have REDs haha.
But you would need to go threw a couple of steps to get RED footage to work on FCP first.
 
First thing, get some money. RED cameras are only 17K, SOOO SHITTY. Quality is like a flip video cam.
