Opening day will be a gongshow and a half at Revelstoke this year.

Given that we've received more snow than anywhere else in the PNW and currently have the deepest alpine snow pack... given that Whistler has been god awful with mostly dry weather or high elevation rain, given that most interior BC resorts aren't open or only have 1 lift operating currently, given that we open on a Saturday once again when most resorts open on a thurs or fri, given Kicking Horse doesn't open until a week after, and lastly little to no snow is expected at any other resorts in BC after today for the remainder of the week.

Conditions at RMR are looking good, very good right now... Better opening snow conditions than the past few years. Opening day is always a gongshow at RMR for crowds and line ups with many camping out in the line the night before.... but I suspect this could be one for the record books as numerous factors are in alignment.

For every centimetre of snow this week, there will be an additional 100 people in line. Can't wait for a total of 3 laps this saturday.

I may just go up in the afternoon, as I'm not keen to camp out or get up by 4am. I figured they'd wise up by now and move opening day to a weekday like everywhere else. Be at least nicer for all their new staff to have a few less people to manage.

But everything will be trekked out by then

Yes but I live in town and have skied the mountain since 2010; I'll be missing out on the goods no doubt but they'll be better days to be had in the season. Snow is usually good n deep opening day but terrain is limited, and off piste will be sketchy.

You're a lucky bastard to just call Revy your home mountain.

Did Whistler 7 weeks last year with excellent storms Jan 15 on. Revy or Fernie are hopefully in the future to park the RV for a couple of months.

we were there for new years last year and it took us 30 god damn minutes to get on the stoke, and the snow wasn't even great. never been more frustrated at a ski hill before. then we thought it was a good idea to go up new years day and that was fantastic. nothing but a few old guys and some families.

imo revy is pretty over rated as a resort right now. yes the amount of snow they get is great but the infrastructure just isn't there. whenever they decide to stop building condos and put up another chair then i'll be more excited about it.

New years eve is usually the busiest day of the year but yah. Pow mornings average line at the stoke chair is 20 minutes until north bowl opens. They are building a new lift next year, not a very exciting lift but it will help a bit... And it sounds like there will be another lift to follow in the coming years

what's the vibe like these days? Do tempers rise when rival squads bump into each other waiting to hit the natual hip jumps? I I understand your buddy has his camera out, but that drop was in my season edit from 5 years ago, so I'm going to snake your line. Is the alpha male the one with the biggest Monod Sports sticker on his ski? Yeah, buddy with the Kingpins could be at the pass, but he's skiing hardpack off the lifts while thing settle out you know! You've got boots on the ground, enquiring minds want to know.

530am... glad I'm still in bed.

Kicking Horse doesn't even open till next weekend..

yesterday in Revy wasn't too bad. good size early morning gondola line that moved quick... though apparently by 10:30 the Stoke chair line was half an hour. I went up at 9:30 and avoided the Gondola line, Stoke chair was getting busy but I went over to the other side where coverage was dicier but never had to wait in line.

Good snow conditions with sunshine but we need a fair bit more snow for mid mountain and the trees. None this week, but looks good next week.

I’m just saying it’s a funny situation. About the one time a year a mid station would be nice at KIckkng horse.

I’m getting knee surgery so I don’t care either way.
