Opening day thread.

sure did, i skied 3 epic runs in wildcat, few blower face shots and one nice core-slip. patrol rated today a "2", but i had an epic few runs.

can't beat a nice break off work to ski for a few

Opening weekend was AWESOME.

Just want to say somethin to everyone out there- please please please be careful. Yeah, it's the beginning of the season, we're all stoked to be out and shredding, but we do not have a lot of coverage, it is NOT the time to be fucking around.

I watched a kid from the lift pack it after hitting the stupidest cliff ever, and ended up slamming into a sharp rock, face first, and start seizing. Don't know what happened to him in the end, but it easily could have been the end of his season.

Just watch it out there- in bounds, or out of bounds. We have a terrible base layer of rotten snow, slopes WILL slide. And there are definitely rocks out there... No more face slams, please.

holy shit...where was this?

and seriously, seems like people are way more gung-ho about getting after it this year than usual. the day jamie pierre died alta looked like a damn circus.

she's most likely referring to gadzoom at the bird. that was not a pretty sight coming up the chair before having skied a single run and seeing/hearing that. turns out i actually know the guy pretty well, he is a nasty skier and definitely should have known better but i guess his stoke was running a bit high that day. i think he ended up OK considering the circumstances, a big gash on the face, a couple broken ribs and a bad concussion. i do know he had to go back in to the hospital last night though so hopefully nothing else went wrong.

Underneath Gadzoom at the Bird, between MidGad Lodge and the top of the lift- it was fucking awful, I still get the chills thinking about it. And I'm sure the kid is a gnar skier, but I saw him make more than one stupid decision, there's not enough snow to be hucking, it's too sketch.

And for reals- I bet at least 50% of those people weren't wearing beacons. Everyone's excuse is that "there's not enough snow to slide", which is just stupid. We have a rotten baselayer, which just equates to slides left n right.

Be safe out thurr, kiddos.

I just heard he passed away from internal brain bleeding?

Soso sorry to hear that, shred in peace, man.

Let's wear our helmets and be safe out there...

i messed up my knee pretty bad at pc on sunday. not even doing anything special. ortho on monday to hear whats up with it.

People were droppiing like flies on sunday. Saw a lot of people case really bad, one kid rack on the top of the wallride right after the jump, and someone fall on the stairs after the rail before the s-rail....

It's nuts how many times patrol was in the park that day...

not sure where that rumor came from but he is fine and hopes to be pretty much 100% by next week. don't post stuff like that if you don't know 100% that it's true!

Definitely not trying to start rumors, I heard it somewhere that I know and trust- we might be talking about different people, my bad. Glad to hear there aren't more unknown deaths though.

so did my friend. he knuckled the jump and it didnt seem that serious but ended up tearing his acl, mcl, meniscus in two places, and fractured a bone. his season is done. it sucks

Hit Canyons opening day today. Nothing too special down low but some surprisingly decent snow off Saddleback which made for a fun morning. Julian Carr and friends were up there rippin around which was pretty cool. Nice guy.
