What bands have you NEVER heard of before you saw them as an opening band and now you love them?

I'll start - Mike Doughty's Band

first thing he says when he walks on stage "Sorry i took so long, i was busy smoking some of that good shit you can only get up here in VT. can't get anything like that in Philly. it feels like there is a spirit inside me,i cant even see you guys." then a bunch of clouds of smoke came out of the crowd

i ddint see them perce but, lamb of god, children of bodom thine eyes bleed and mastodon opened for slayer and i ALMOST saw the, :(

Its weird hearing bands at a concert first then listening to them later. But some I've liked are The Higher and Emanual so weird because I never thought I would like that music

eeewwwwwwww i heard circa when then opened for rise against, thursday and billy talent and i hated them so much

i like dragonforce heard them at ozzfest last year

less than jake, letter kills, howie day, senses fail, the hush sound, october fall, the exies. probably some more that i can't think of right now.

this was WAAAAAAAY back then. and its the only one i can think of.

i went to see sum41 a few years back and this band called No Warning opened. they were amazing.

hahahahaha THE HIGHER

i saw them play a show when they were in high school. they were called SEPTEMBER STAR, they are outta vegas, i loved them when i lived there. the were really like 17-18 years old back then. very good band. thats funny that mad heads on NS.com are talking about "the higher"

sepstar was siiiiick.

Seriously I never thought I would like music like that but I went to a show with some friends and I was like damn those kids are sick.

there are a lot of times when i go to a show specifically for the opening bands and i either have never heard the headlining bands, or i hate them. there are a lot of times when i go to a show for the headlining band and have never heard the opening bands, but it turns out that i love them.

thats how you find new bands, going to shows...hearing new stuff. well that and the internet, but shows are a way funner ( yea i said funner ) way to do it.

some bands id never heard before and then went to see and loved them are.....down to nothing, her space holiday, cuff the duke, heck 2 days ago i went to see battles, i had never heard them before, they were amazing!.......thats all i can think of for now, ive been to too many shows to remember who i had never heard previously.

the chicago afrobeat society opened for John brown's body. they're the shit.

I'm about to see wu-tang open for rage against the machine... that should be kinda good

solliloquists of sound opened for sage francis and da vinci the dj for sos was fucking nuts...way more energy than sage had. i think the corwd was way more into the show during sos than during sage

the volta's music does not translate well to arenas, in smaller like 3-4 thousand seat venues they are much better. The music is very intricate and arena acoustics are tough for bands that have a "busy" sound. They are a generally tough listen though, check out their albums and see them in a smaller venue that sounds good. that venue in boston is notorious for sounding like shit, most acts hate that place because of the acoustics. yes the peppers did sound good there because their music is very well orchestrated and rather simple. don't get mad because i called their sound simple, it is dope but spacing of instrumentation will always help out a sound guy in a shitty sounding space.

holy shit yes... i really like them now, that whole show was amazing. and the higher are legit too, im suprised how many people on here know them

lucky my mom was gonna take me but then my dad saw a new picture of slayer and was like "why would you go see a bunch of fat, old guys screaming?" and so i had to stay home :(

fleetwood mac opened up for jefferson airplane...my mom went to that show and now i love both
