Do you write PHP? The whole thing is a big LAMP stack of custom code, internally written framework.

that's not quite how blockchain tech works though. some functions might reward you with the native token (posting, getting high ratings on your posts, uploading media, getting high ratings on that, reviews, etc.), but if you want to influence the direction of the site you wouldn't want to cash out to bitcoin or fiat currency, because 'NScoin' is what would be used in governance votes within the NS blockchain ecosystem. think of it more like a co-op than a form of monetization. plus, that same sense of NS pride would work to penalize any outsiders trying to capitalize off of NS. NS members would effectively decide how core it really is and what it supports.
i personally think everything is going in the direction of blockchain and NS would be way ahead of the curve if it were to make moves this way. i do also understand that the ownership of the enthusiast network might make this difficult. but lets fuckin liberate NS! i do believe it could fund itself, since its greatest asset is the passion we all feel and the strength of the community. community strength is also what powers successful blockchain projects...
the number one reason for moving to a blockchain based system would be to remove NS from corporate ownership, let members decide the direction of the enterprise, and give us true ownership over our community. imagine a NS where members didn't just lose interest and leave after a few years, only to return every now and then. itd be the most organic shit ever. the monetary component of it really only exists to give individuals and communities control over their own domain.

All i was talking about was putting it somewhere (i.e. github) that the more tech-savvy NSers could contribute their time to, fixing up site issues. It's a common business model, where people are employed by the site to fix things full time, but accept part-time contributions from the community as an act of good-will. This helps users stay active with the site in addition to giving the chance for the community to contribute/vote on features relevant to themselves.
It doesn't need blockchain. Consensus is central - there is only one database for voting. If ever we have a decentralized NS, in which we need to consign posts, voting and users, I'd agree to it, but otherwise, it is a poor use-case for a static site.
