Open NS to Snowboarders

I know this has already been discussed before but is there any good reason not to fully integrate snowboarders into newschoolers? As far as I know, snowboarders don’t have any non-reddit forum for their community.

I enjoy some snowboard content, skiers and snowboarders share many interests and I feel like the site would be much more interesting with a large amount of snowboarders mixed in.

Thoughts?

snowboarding community is technically way cooler than the ski community so i wouldn’t really care but it would taint the website if like half the users were boarders.

the user with the most karma is a snowboarder.

thus whole snowborder vs skier thing is made by gaper jerries that think skiing makes them sick. I’d rather go with snowboarders than most skiers

We should. Nobody should be forced to use reddit.

Exactly my thoughts…

Also I’m aware that there are snowboarders on newschoolers but it’s not exactly inviting. I just feel like the platform could grow and become more interesting if we turned “skiing’s community” into a community of many snow sports.

Totally love the snowboarding hype and have enjoyed learning how to board a little bit in the last couple years. Also really love having a dedicated skiing community. Not saying there can’t be both, but it’s sick to go on NS and know that everyone is on here because they fuck hard with skiing.

This was first thread on there asking if it needed repair ?‍♂️ I don’t think we want all of them, besides skiers can’t even find this place

Like they have a snowboard grabber, what more could be done to make it more inviting. I think there aren’t more snow boarders here because Newschoolers is quite simply designed to cater to skiing and has a predominately skiing center community.

Snowboard gabber was a joke for april fools like 10 years ago that still exists.

NS is a ski community, all the gear talk and tricks are generally skiing. That said riding the same mtns(well mostly) and doing similar things in parks and the rest of the mountain. It makes sense that there are still some active snowboarders here.

I was on some snowboarding forums in the early 2ks but they all folded a million years ago. NS is a chill place though

What I’m getting from this thread is that most people don’t really want to advertise Newschoolers to snowboarders but are ok with snowboarders being on the forum (which makes sense, this is a ski forum but that doesn’t mean that we need to kick out everyone else).

My main concern is that Newschoolers will eventually have a large member shortage, but I guess opening up to snowboarders isn’t the best solution. Basically I’m just worried the site’ll die someday

Can't kill what's already dead. Except maybe as more and more people discover how terrible insta/tiktok/fb is they'll revert back to message board based communities, but I kinda doubt it.

Imagine advertising NS to anyone lol

If NS actually revamped their website to promote media content and even be able to put together edits from clips on the site and have music licensing etc then it would be worth it. The problem is the site just languished and there is no reason to come here aside from the message boards or videos that are dropped on other platforms anyway.

Have some snowboarder friends that lurk here sometimes. Sems like the community would love it. They seem more connected already so a proper website for gabbering would be nice.

Its almost like using Google is too much effort for you lazy fucking children.

Looks like a site waiting for the Osama Pro enlightenment.

There’s a reason this section is called the “ski” gabber

woooow…a site for skiers is made for skiers and filled with skiers…

you know what i’m just salty because all my friends are snowboarders and won’t get on newschoolers :(

I hate sounding exclusionary, but different sports have different cultures and different techniques and different things they discuss. Having NS be snowboarding themed in addition to skiing would somewhat ruin the vibe we already have.

Also this would probably lead to more threads devolving into 5-page arguments between like 2 people lmaooooo

y'all just wait a few years and skiing will have the bussin amateur scene like snowboarding does

A lot of weird arguments NS is alresdy open to snowboarders, there used to be a bunch on here. Also people switched to snowboarding and snowbosrders switched to skiing.

People act like its so different. The mtn I worked at when my friend made my account whole squad was skiers except me and another friend.

i surprised we were able to work throigh the enormous differences and find it in our hearts to hang out.

We're building a backyard setup but it's a ski one. Oh my!! They're pretty integrated at this point. Usually the people bitching the most either way are crusty old50 + thtst hate everything or just jerries.

A lot of you have never seen johnny tsunami and it shows. Johnny squashed the beef in like 99 and everyone has been friends since

Shit happens when you have a bunch of sheltered teenagers that live on their social medias, they only look at skiing, only talk about skiing and they don't realize that it's the internet, you choose what to look at ?‍♂️

Elaborate?

They've developed a very strong amateur scene close to skateboarding which skiing hasn't really seen until the past few years (at least what I've seen). There's street cut after street cut coming from their community and shit and it seems like skiing just takes everything cool from snowboarding and makes it for themselves so we're always a few years behind. There's nothing wrong with the skiing community cause in my opinion it looks a whole lot cooler and more diverse than boarding but their community as a whole is "cooler" and more rider / park focused than skiing. Most people haven't even taken a peek at what boarders have to offer so they immediately downvote my post.

This argument reminds me of your "short skis look wack" statement, it's a shallow perspective that's based on anecdotal information.

Skiing is a cool as you want it to be, nothing says that snowboarding is better or worse except whatever you believe.

there has been roots level street skiing for years, the last few aren't any different than before, you just haven't been paying attention/weren't a part of the scene until a few years ago.

Sometimes you gotta realize that your opinions and thoughts aren't the only ones that exist my dude.

honestly i feel like recently the ski scene is getting really cool, interesting outerwear, cool events, at least in quebec the skiers seem more down to earth than the snowboarders, everybody hiking together ?

also if there’s anything people dislike about skiing you gotta fix it yourself. go watch some underground street edits, support small companies, rep who you think makes skiing cool ?
