Whos had one? How much did the entire thing (ticket+court) cost you?

story:

Basically I was walking back to my bike from a friends house while cops were doing some kinda 'secret' infiltration of a hs party across the street I was unaware of, detained me in the back back of a cop car, and questioned me for an hour until so many kids said they had no clue who i was and that i was not associated with them. I had half a bottle of wine corked. zipped in my hoodie pocket. anybody have any idea how much these cost on average?

iv heard before that wine as long as the cork is in isnt considered to be open because it is the original seal. now dont quote me on this, i dont know where i heard it

its a state issue so it depends on where you live. my friend one and im pretty sure your case doesn't count as one, atleast in WA. i would definitely investigate that and fight it if possible.

^yes it is complete bs. Depending on ticket cost and court fees I may try to argue it because they had no reason to search me, and wasted my time. But in idaho it is considered open if the original seal is broken

but still you were just walking and you had a friend with you so theres a witness, and cops in idaho really fucking stalk out HS parties wtf.

But if you werent at the party they have no probable cause do they shouldn't have searched you in the first place

seriously just get a decent lawyer and you will get out of it. dude cop man had no right to search you. 'merica is in a god damn police state

my brother got one of these damn things on st patricks day, he was a few days shy of 18 and he had a pack of beer. they gave him a $20 fine. it could have been way worse, we just got a money order and sent it in

you got detained and have to go to court for carrying half a bottle of wine....? wtf, either america is just fucked or you did something to piss off the cop.

im assuming hes only going to court to argue his ticket, which is completely optional. but op, if you do tell it to the judge the same way you told it to us youll probably get off scott free.

dont know where your from man, but in Toronto there is like a three stike rule. Kids can get caught with open containers, and all the cops will do is book you (write your name down) and send you off, and of course take your alcohol . If you get caught three times they will usually call your house, and you may get a ticket.

That sucks, I hope you can argue out of it. Just say it was a more expensive bottle of wine so you wanted to bring it home. Any sane adult would let you off for that.

On a side note.... so thankful I live in a town with no open container law.
