Thats right NS, we've launched it once, fucked it up, tested and tested again, and finally its ready to bust out.

In preparation for our online qualifier, we wanted to warm you up with

a short online rail Jam. We're going to run it for one week, and the

winner will walk away with a Studio411 six-pack of videos.

"This contest marks the beginning of a new era of competitions. Here at

Newschoolers we are lauching a series of online contests, that will

start small but gradually grow over time. The main idea here is that

you shoot your trick in the comfort of your own home park, and then

upload it to our contest system to compete with other skiers!

Voting

is done by you the community, so there's no judges to be pissed at

other than yourself. We're limiting the voting to one per account per

IP - so if you have more than one NSer in your house only one of you

will be able to vote. We're doing it this way to make it really hard

for you scummy cheaters out there to scam the system!

Anyways,

this should be a cool way to work it through the season. We'll be

keeping stats on performances throughout the year, and one day will

tally up who is truly the most talented skier on NS.

Remember,

even if you figure out a way to cheat the system, DON'T DO IT. I

mean come on we all want to know who is the best, and we all complain

about shitty judging, so this is the one way to get the true opinion.

If someone's trick was better than your buddy's then vote it higher.

Don't just vote for your friends because they're your friends, vote for

who truly is the best and together we can re-define the way that

skiing contests work!

Also, we have limited the types of files

you can use to flash video. So you've got to upload it to something

like YouTube or Google Video before you post it. That way there's no

conflicting file formats!"

Please excuse the shitty photoshop work... Chris is on vacation and I really wanted to launch this... and I suck nuts at photoshop.

Oh and for those that keep reading these yes I am glad that I can delete threads because I seem to be inept at getting this one right. ;)

 
thats awsome, how many of these weekly contests are there gonna be? or does that depend on how popular this gets?

does it have to be rail, why can't it be total backyard?

judging on style or balls to the wallness or a special blend?

do backyard "park" shots count?

 
Yeah I'd say backyard is good to go... but as long as its a park-quality feature. We'll have another one for backyard setups.

Hahahha... yeah I was killing myself trying to make a new header and then I dropped the gradient in there accidentally and was like "booyeah"

I definitely have zero future in graphic design. I just suck at it and I don't know why...

 
Guys this doesn't have to be like the best trick you've ever done... just throw up the best trick you've got lying around in your archives and see what happens. We're going to do a whole bunch of these throughout the winter so don't worry if you don't win this one.

 
This is a cool idea. But as it goes on, I deffinetly think it should try to be thricks that have been filmed this year, maybe even within the competition time. So then everyone, in real time, is going out to land their best trick for the comp. Then, you can also have like, the best bails of the week, and people can post bails just from that week. I'll go film something this week and post it up.
 
i'm down! i'm not going up the hill today 'cause my old man is around, but tomorrow i'll get up there... oh wait, i'm not even sure if our park is up yet. i'll just jib the school rail then.
 
Yeah so I'm gonna ski in a few days because I finally can and Ill either get a real sick trick on cam ooorrrr Ill use something from last year but Ill most likely try to get something in the next few days YAY!!!!
 
This one will be from any time... another contest we might have a rule where you've got to put date proof in it (to simulate like a weekend contest kind of thing). But yeah, use whatever you've got!

 
I would enter, but I dont get to winter park until jan 2nd, when it ends. I wish there was more time, cause I dont have the ability to ski until my trip.
 
Yeah exactly. That's why I was saying maybe. It just seems like a cool idea to strive for that, but in reality that is what most people are going to have to do, because you weren't a better skier last year. It should clear up here monday/tuesday so I'll film something then, even if it's crap, and get it up!
