I'm totally amazed. I don't know if anyone else has seen the commercial, but the new lexus LS can parallel park itself and also back into spots by itself. here's the demo link.

A few years ago they showed something on the discovery channel about self driving cars. They said they would be coming out around now so I guess they were right.

the shit they were talking about is a guidance system. it just follows a mark painted on the car in front of them.

and this new lexus technology is rediculous. yea, its cool, but its the kind of thing that is so useless.

No I'm pretty sure it was a gps based system.

this lexus stuff isnt gps, its just a bunch of sensors around the car. gps wouldnt work i dont think, it can tell you were to go, but not actually take you there.

the best part is if you own one you can use it to take your driver's ed test and use the parallel park feature.

i dont know though, cause satellite can do some small actuator shit like open windows, unlock doors, turn electrical equiptment on/off so maybe it could work, its not gps though

Yes I know gps wouldn't work with parallel parking but it can tell you where to go.

I heard that it takes forever to parallel park for you. There are a ton of steps I gues and by the time you are done its been so long even the crapiest parker could have parked by then. Cool idea though, just needs some refining.

just saw that commercial today. me and my roomate were watching football and that commercial came on. we both looked at each other and were amazed. that is some sick shit. i want to test drive that car and see it do that in person.
